New polling following the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida indicates incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson is in serious jeopardy of losing his seat to Republican challenger Gov. Rick Scott in November.
According to Quinnipiac University, 46 percent of Floridians surveyed between February 2326 would vote for Nelson, and 42 percent would vote for Scott, but the polls additional data points suggest the gap is closing in favor of Scott.
Most notably, Scott posted a net 4940 percent approval rating. Not only does this mark an all-time high, but it is also the first positive approval rating Scott has scored in his two terms as governor, according to Quinnipiacs figures.

That is great news. Nelson is a bloviating socialist.
Nothing to see here, folks. If Governor, Rick Scott runs for the US Senate seat against current US Senator, Bill Nelson.....Scott will wipe up the floor with the incompetent lazy Nelson...Game over...Hello, Senator Rick Scott!!!
Bloviating Socialist or Vacillating Windbag.
What a choice.
He is worse than that. I have written many letters to him over the years and have NEVER received any response. I have called his office and have always been polite and reasonable and his staff just hangs up usually after loudly saying that they “don’t have to listen to vile language.” I don’t use bad language ever, so it is a clever excuse to hang up.
As much as I don’t like Rubio, at least he acknowledges receipt of letters and his office staff is always polite.
I would love to see Ron De Santis become governor and Rick Scott become Senator.
LOL! So, is allen grayson getting any traction anywhere? Speaking of bloviating assclowns.
Long way until November. The problem Scott will have with Parkland is that any steps he takes on gun control to attract some voters may well alienate other voters.
If supporting some modest gun control, like raising the age for rifle sales to 21 gets Scott into the US Senate, then more power to him.
Because like it or not, the ONLY WAY that the Second Amendment (and First Amendment, for that matter) will survive in its present form is to have conservatives controlling the courts. It’s ironic, but if Scott needs to use gun control to get into the Senate, that’s fine with me, because he almost certainly will be voting for Trump’s judges, and with that, my kids have a chance of living in the same America that I was fortunate enough to live in.
None of this gun control stuff should happen at the Federal Level. If MA and CA want to snuff the life out of their gun rights—that should not impact those living in Vermont and New Hampshire.
If Rick Scott wants to do these things, its up to the State. I HATE having the Feds involved in this at all. I wish Trump and the members of Congress would point all of this stuff in the right direction.
Hear, hear!!
Stupid Dallas TX lawyer
That is quite an indictment that Nelson ignores constituents. I am not surprised. He is busy with face lifts and hair implants for his ego.
Scott is no prince but anyone but Nelson.
Dad is unsure of Ron DeSantis or Adam Putnam, dad knows Adam, but we are against Philip Levine....
Low energy Nelson is not very bright, and can’t think on his feet. He has handlers, always, that shuffle him around like a dog on a leash. He’s just a front for actual power behind him.
And Sott will slaughter him (if Scott gets off of gun control, that ks).
Well, if nothing else, I wouldn’t mind seeing nelson gone. Time will tell.
Well I wouldn’t mind seeing Nelson put out to pasture. He gives me the creeps........looks like a corpse!!
I am voting for him again....although he hasn’t officially said he was running yet. I guess with his name recognition, he doesn’t need a ton of time to campaign since he just did so 4 years ago. I am happy to vote for him, Weber (again....son married to a Bates daughter.....Yes!) and to vote against felons getting to vote again......
Nice to have 3 reasons to vote this November. Two years ago, it was to vote for Trump and Rubio so at least 1 was exciting. lol.
So you would rather Nelson get another term to punish Scott for wanting the age raised to 21.....seems everything is going towards 21. I would be for waiting to buy a gun until 21 if they added raising the age to vote to 21. That would be awesome!!!!
I called once and the phone was answered by a rather polite young man. I have to admit I was surprised by the good manners. I gave my name and address and dripping with sarcasm he said, Yes, Mrs. Z we have ALL of your letters right here and on file. Rather busy aren’t you?”
It went downhill from there. LOL
I like De Santis a lot. Adam Putnam was my daughter’s congressman and she liked him. Philip Levine is a progressive dem and will never get a vote from this house.
