Trump Introduces 25% Tariff on Steel, 10% on Aluminum (‘This is a Promise Made, a Promise Kept’)

President Donald Trump on Thursday slapped deeply contentious trade tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum, swatting aside warnings of a global trade war and protests from allies in Europe and at home. The tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on aluminum will come into effect in 15 days, the White House said.

They will not apply to Canada and Mexico initially, an official said, adding that security and trade partners could negotiate to seek exemption.

The measures are likely to spark retaliatory sanctions from the European Union, China and other economic powers.

Moving to fulfil a protectionist campaign promise, Trump leaned on a little-used national security clause in US trade law.

"This is a promise made, a promise kept," a senior administration official said, "no one should be surprised."

These tariffs are only contentious to those, internally and externally, who have been bankrupting the nation for the benefit of their global agenda and their personal power and wealth.

Perhaps things will go more smoothly with Goldman Sachs Gary Cohen no longer polluting the WH with his elitist, globalist, exclusionary agenda.

The next step is a challenge for US industry to replace Chinese products sold in the US and really screw them. Really screw them.

US car companies aren’t happy about it. Metal costs might could go up for them.

I know why the moonbats hate it.

If other countries cannot compete at our level, we must compete at their level. Same with everything.
We must bow down to the lowest common denominator in the libtard world.

The President does not play that crap.

China can sell aluminum and steel to their 1 billion communists.

This will affect where I work quite negatively. However, it might also lead to a domestic competitor to some of the equipment I need, to more quality steel on the market.

When they volunteer to give you over $10,000 off just to buy the car, I doubt the added $250 in raw materials even enters the equation.

Those are some pretty puny percentages. I heard it would only be a penny on a can of Coke or $25G on a 757.

If I were playing Poker with Trump and had two aces in the hole and an ace and two queens on the table and Trump had two kings on the table and an ace and called, I would fold.
