The fact is that they hate anything that helps salvage and grow the US middle class the wealthy who wag the dog have been working to destroy for decades.

Globalist politicians have sold out American workers for decades.

>>Trump’s tariffs have further divided the CommieCrat Party into the one world globalist faction and the and the union-purchased faction.

He is forcing all the Globalists of both parties together so, hopefully, the people can see that they are neither pro-poor or pro-worker and that the whole R vs D paradigm has been a lie for decades.

I find it quite amusing how quickly these biased reporters forget the numerous buildings built in our country with “Chinese” steel of inferior quality that have had to be shored up to prevent structural failure along with say other garbage products from that country that has infiltrated our shores.....SHETTROCK ring a bell? I am all for getting U.S. steel and every other building product to be sourced and made here in order to get our economy rockin’ like the 50’s/60’s etc...China could care less if say 10,000 out of say 100,000 of anything they make fails or is of poor quality....when do they ever actually own up to some of the crap they dump everywhere.....Nixon should have left them steering oxen in their rice paddies.

We now let oil get exported....

Note that there are all sorts of specialty steels made by different mills.

Steel has many flavors.

“Oh no, my Chinese (and imported-from-Vietnam Chinese) steel!”

I have tried buying chinese manufactured stainless steel items, or American manufactured items made with Chinese "stainless" steel, which was actually stainless...

Not a single freakin' one! e.g. Kitchen knives and eating utensils; fasteners, screws, machine screws and other fasteners.

Gee, I've never seen liberals soooo concerned about what industrialists think.

They never raised any concern when the government puts onerous rules and regulations that drive US Businesses overseas in the first place.

My guess it interferes with their plans to raise taxes for their global warming schemes more unbearable to businesses and their costumers....

Don’t you remember all the coal miner interviews when Obama stated he was going to kill the industry? All of the sympathetic press for the oil companies? Police? Christians? Tea Party?

Me neither...

Trump is so much more brilliant than most people. They don’t know he has hit them until it is already over for them.

Lets not forget the poisoned pet food from china. We had two cats turn diabetic within months after that was reviled. Maybe I have no prof, but I absolutely believe it was the pet food. We look now, and never buy pet food from anywhere but the USA.

100% correct. This is the starting point for negotiation. Because main streets has lost millions of jobs and Wall Street and DC have simply pigged out at the trough and done nothing to assist those who lose due to free trade.

I think the problem might be that the US steel industry isn’t what it used to be, so US supply may quickly be outstripped by demand. Which would erase any benefit by buying US made steel.

Now of course, the tarrif would encourage reinvestment in US made steel, however it could take a decade or two to reach capacity levels to meet current demand much less future demand.

It was great he fulfilled a campaign promise kudos for that of course but I’d rather have seen the funding for the wall secured and more illegals deported by now.

Who knows though, a real tariff hasn’t been implemented in years in favor of our country so who knows what the real impact will be. So it all could be pessimism that says it will be harmful. I don’t see how it won’t have at least short term detrimental effects but I’m no expert that’s for sure.

Trump is right on tariffs — That’s why he was elected

President Trump is simply doing what he said he would do during the presidential campaign – protecting American workers and safeguarding our national security, all at the same time.

The Trump administration, in fact, has a clear and important goal in mind: to protect U.S. jobs and industries that we must have in this country for vital national security reasons.

First, as Peter Navarro pointed out recently to Fox News, the U.S. aluminum industry is down to less than 10 percent of fulfilling our own domestic demand. Six smelters have stopped production since 2013, leaving our nation with only five remaining.

And only two of those smelters are in actual working order. Our steel industry has shed thousands of jobs for decades, and is under real threat of someday being destroyed in the coming years unless it is protected in some reasonable way.

Second, our nation’s security is at stake if these industries were to disappear. As one senior White House official explained to me just this week, this could be a matter of life or death for our country.

Navarro, Trump’s trade guy, mentioned the other day that the aluminum used in a six pack of beer will raise the cost one and a half-cents per six pack. Big deal.

A $330 million Boeing 777 Dreamliner will cost an extra $25,000.

A $25,000 - $30,000 U.S. manufactured auto or SUV will cost an additional $125.
