Seems that being interviewed for the VA job indicates the boss doesn’t think Perry is doing very well at Energy??/

Perry would be an excellent manager for the VA and about as patriotic as you can get. He'll straighten it out.

Energy....He's probably been searching for someone for a long time. Tough gig...Not sure who could fill the position and make it fit with the always changing criteria.

In my opinion, if Trump thinks that any subordinate is not doing a good, that subordinate is just dumped. Anybody getting moved to another job, is likely being sent as a troubleshooter, based on a good assessment in their last assignment.

In the case of Rick Perry though, he might get special treatment, because of his unique value with the big oil money, and hard core conservative donors.

Department of Energy is a bit like EPA - stopping them from doing things is the real measure of success.

Or it might be that Perry asked to be considered for the job - no sense trying to start rumors because of one non-specific story.
