You weren't paying attention to how much Obama..(etc, etc.)

With all due respect (despite your sarcastic assumption), you may misunderstand my argument.

I will stipulate our military was neglected via Obama's "remaking" term in office and in need of substantial refurb. Further, Trumps willingness to do so was an important point to most Aericans, especially those of us who voted for him.

Nonetheless, I think he missed a great, low-cost, low-risk opportunity to refuse to feed the beast and realize more of his campaign promises - which is of paramount importance to his base.

Pretty sure our active duty personnel could have pressed on for a few more politically critical months with what they have while Trump made significant political points that would turn more of the public and Congressmen to his views.

Have a nice weekend.

Trump got tax cuts. The GOP doesn't need him around anymore. They are acting like he doesn't exist. Going forward, they don't need him. ‘They’ don't care if the dems take over, the corporate interest are being taken care of in the short term.

Even after the tax cuts and regs cut. What are 'we' left with? More debt, because politicians don't care about that. But, 'we' have to take care of it going forward. Real winning here.

“1. Everyone calm down. Trump signed this POS Omnibus Bill for one reason : to get $700 billion for the military. It’s his #1 priority.

And the largest increase in defense spending in 15 years. That’s a VERY good outcome.”

My only guess is the country is going to war in the next few months and he was willing to trade it all to get that funding for the military.

BINGO!  John Bolton may be the hint of what is to come very shortly.

I would expect the tax cuts to increase employment, job growth and wages and, thus, increase revenue to the Treasury.

If had vetoed, then what? Do you really think Congress would have come up with anything better?

It was a choice between fixing the military or slightly less spending but leaving the military with the problems Obama saddled it with.

The increase in the debt will end up being lower under Trump than it has been under the last two Presidents.

But, we won't see any significant reductions in spending until entitlements start going bankrupt.

"A budget under Hilary would have been ten times as Bad"

You may be right or it would be possible that the GOP would actually fight much harder but with ultimately similar results. The GOP is bipolar.

I found everything to dislike about this bill.

Its a monument to everything that’s wrong with Washington.

Only saving grace is the big boost for our military. That said, I’m not defending it on principle.

Exactly VP Pence’s argument.

Conservatives got a raw deal in this budget. Let’s fix Washington.

Do you think it would be better if we all would have stayed home and let Hillary win? Give credit for this spending bill to who it belongs - Mitch Mc Connell, Paul Ryan and all the other RINO’s.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement announcing his intention to vote against the omnibus spending bill:

“In 2016, the American people voted overwhelmingly for Republicans to change Washington. Now, Congress is poised to do the exact opposite: pass a massive $1.3 trillion spending bill — 2200 pages drafted by the Swamp in the dark of night — that will plunge our nation even deeper into debt.

“The disastrous elements of this bill are almost too numerous to list.

“It continues to fund Planned Parenthood, a corrupt organization whose horrifying abortion practices should preclude it from receiving taxpayer dollars.

“It continues to fund sanctuary cities, which are defying the law and making Americans less safe. Instead of rewarding sanctuary cities, we should be passing legislation like Kate’s Law, a bill I introduced that would put criminal illegal aliens in jail so they cannot prey on innocent Americans.

“It fails to provide sufficient funds to properly secure our border, let alone build the wall that is necessary.

“It tells federal agencies that they can spend taxpayer dollars to study the ‘causes’ of gun violence, a mandate that – make no mistake – will be abused by future liberal administrations to manufacture evidence to try to violate law-abiding citizens’ Second Amendment rights.

“It funds the Ex-Im Bank, a classic example of corporate welfare that has doled out over $100 billion in taxpayer-guaranteed loans, primarily to a handful of giant and well-connected corporations.

“It fails to reduce funding for the EPA, which under Obama administration zealots, killed thousands of jobs and dramatically strayed from its core mission of ensuring clean air and water.

“All of these measures amount to piling even greater debt onto the backs of our kids and grandkids, all because we are incapable of living within our means.

“he needs more conservatives in Congress to get the rest of his agenda passed.”

Will never happen because of the nitwit voters who keep sending the same people back time and time again.

Almost all of the European bases are closed.

Our “footprint” there now is smaller than a division where as the height of the cold war we had 277,000 troops on the ground. By 1990 it was 220,000, and now its somewhere close to 30,000 (mostly support troops).

A full up division can only effectively control a 10-15km front. So unless you want to bring back the draft to fill out all of the administrative “paper divisions” your dream of every division on the border isn’t happening because we don’t have enough to do it.

As far as savings go, the democrats will just spend it on more transgender studies or lgbtxyz outreach programs, etc.

Some folks have their emotions and intellect out of balance.
Might not be happy with the signing of the this bill it’s but no reason to go over the edge.
Hopefully after a few days balance will be reclaimed.
