Republican Sens. Bob Corker and Rand Paul made good on their promise to vote down the bill. They were joined, predictably, by fiscal conservatives Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Ben Sasse, Tom Cotton and Jeff Flake.

Sen. Chuck Grassley also voted down the measure, as did Louisiana Republicans senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy.

As it seems to be the norm now days the most denigrated were the most stouthearted.

They passed this in both Houses with Democrat votes. Pretty disgusting.

Flake is a FISCAL conservative? Really? I’m shocked to hear that given his horrendous behavior and other votes.

As posted on another thread, this is an Omnibus and not a Budget. If true, it means that the president can spend the money as he sees fit and there is nothing that Congress or anyone else can do about it.

Again, supposedly Obemba did the same thing.

Making a stand even if symbolic (which does not come close to explaining all the no votes) is far better in my estimation then rolling over to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck-U and kissing their A$$!

He would have been much better served to have vetoed the horrendous bill, and even if the veto were overridden, he wouldn’t have the guilty hands on the legislation. This may be like GHWB reneging on “Read My Lips: No New Taxes” 1990. Lee Atwater had us convinced that GHWB actually meant that long-remembered line. This bill will practically guarantee the official return of Speaker Pelosi in 2019, and PRyan couldn’t be more giddy.

He’ll never resign, but many more days like this and he may lose the 2020 primary (and then run as an independent - which may actually still get him reelected if the donks nominate one of their more strident communists).

We currently have FOUR U.S. Senators that side with U.S. citizens and the rule of law.

Cotton, Perdue, Cruz and Grassley.

The rest are mostly OK with the illegal alien inundation, some have made it their life’s work.

Trump could threaten to resign after the November elections. That would scare the gop voters straight. Might even motivate the left to vote but that would be ok. America just may not be good enough for President Trump. Cut Defense when the Rats hold the WH and overspend on domestic to get adequate defense spending. We’re losing.

I don’t think President Trump is a quitter. Unreal that he would threaten to resign. He knows this country needs him at this moment in time. God placed him there.
