Subtitle: Covering Hillary Clintons campaign from before it started to the very last moment.
Things were already looking bad when Chelsea Clinton popped the Champagne. It was just after 9 p.m. on election night and she was having her hair and makeup done in the familys suite at the Peninsula hotel. She stopped to pour what somebody told me was Veuve Clicquot into everyones glasses, figuring that in a couple of hours Donald Trumps run of early victories in red states (West Virginia, Oklahoma, Alabama) would end and the map would turn back in her moms favor.
Three hours later, the Rust Belt was awash in red, and somebody had to tell Hillary Clinton.
Robby Mook, the drained and deflated campaign manager, told his boss she was going to lose. She didnt seem all that surprised.
I knew it. I knew this would happen to me, she said, now within a couple of inches of Mr. Mooks ashen face. They were never going to let me be president.
In July 2013, Jill Abramson, the former executive editor of The New York Times, put me on the Hillary beat ahead of the 2016 election. It was 649 days before Mrs. Clinton would announce she was running for president again, 1,226 days before she would lose to Mr. Trump.
Every major life decision in my 20s and 30s when to get married, where to buy an apartment, whether to freeze my eggs until after the election had revolved around a single looming question: What about Hillary Clinton?

Hold your arms out Hillary. It will make it harder for them to throw a net over you.
Boohoo! They were never going to let me be president.
lol. Yes. The great conspiracy of ‘they’.
What a pathetic loser. Sad thing is this woman probably thinks that makes her great somehow!
She’s lucky we allow her to remain a member of the Human Race, even if it is honorary.
Vast right wing conspiracy again Hilary?
The best thing that Donald Trump has ever done is save the country from a Hilary Clinton presidency...
The “they” that is being referred to is “we, the people” that didn’t want her to win.
Who does she mean by “they”?
That just never gets old.
What sore losers. They are still wringing their hands over their loss, over what they were entitled to.
It was Her Turn. Why couldn’t voters figure that out?
But “they” had other ideas...
From 2008 to 2016, every movement Hillary made was chronicled for the Clinton Library. The assumption that Hillary was going to win the White House was ingrained in the medias psyche. This historical achievement needed to be documented for the ages and it was.
And I want to see the last month, all the way up to election night where Hillary was throwing stuff, cursing like a sailor and collapsing in a drunken heap, half dressed on the couch in their suite.
Wait...which is it “Hillary is going to win, has it locked up, no need to campaign” or “They were never going to let me win”............
The they that is being referred to is we, the people that didnt want her to win
So proud to be part of the great “They”...
Settle DOWN HILLARY.You’re going tho share an option with the BRITISH HORSE-FACE that thought she would be QUEEN of ENGLAND!!!
That photo reminds me of how we felt at the start of election evening based on the “polls.” I’ll never forget the hysterics on the left a few hours later. The tears of my enemies never tasted sweeter.
I never get tired of seeing those photos.
And Hillary is still blaming everyone except herself for the loss.
