If the US stopped buying their stuff tomorrow, where would China be? Where would we be? I think they have a lot more to lose than we do in this relationship.

On-shoring may take time and some of it may not be done, but South East Asian countries can take up the slack when Chinese factories will go idle. The fallout to U.S. economy would be short-term. Those who make their living by selling their stuffs to China could be in some trouble, but overall U.S. can handle it.
