Makes sense. Stephan Halper was the consensus yesterday all over the internet.
John Brennan managed Stphan Halper, sent him around to establish select credible contacts, then opened a counter intellegence ops based on those contacts.
The whole Insurance Policy was a setup ops by JOHN BRENNAN!!!

Hard to see how revealing this source, if it IS Halper, would affect national security in any meaningful way. He is 73 and probably at the end of a career as a spy.
As a professor Halper was probably an associate of Christopher Steele from MI6 days who could act as a cutout with plausible academic credentials -—and provided with some DNC/Hillary cash to spend on trying to entrap the two Trump academics. Fringe academics like Pappadoupoulos and Carter Page are always short financially and willing to ‘consult’ on anything that will bring in some money.
All the small group in the cabal against Trump needed was a wrong answer to a leading question to be able to open an investigation that was probably phony from the beginning, instigated by the desire to spy on the Trump campaign.
It appears they were lambs led to slaughter. Seems rather cruel to use them like this, especially considering the outcome of the brief and their minimal contacts. They get “outed” but the entrappers are shielded??
It makes a lot of sense given how vocal Brennan has been.
I just called DeSantis’ ofcice. Told the nice person it’s all over the internet that John Brennan planted a spy named Stephan Halper into the Trump campaign, and it was a setup used to start an IC investigation.
Said please quote me exactly:

Obviously, he was still working, and placed in a hard to get position. From that perch, he could monitor, profile and recruit from the elite of UK society. We invest a lot in our intelligence relationship with the Brits, and some of our worst breaches have been from British double agents from Oxford, with Leftist sympathies. Valuable to have them assessed when young, before they learn to cover it up.
He may also have several assets that he was managing - likely all burnt.
Exactly, any assets he might have or might have been cultivating now have heard all the publicity about his connections with intel agencies to let them assess whether they are being worked. Burnt indeed.
So any protestations that further revelation about his trying to investigate Pappaduolous or Page on behalf of Steele and the opposition research group are without justification.
I guess we will eventually find out if Halper was an asset used by bad guys, or was a bad guy himself.

We learned today for example that the other FBI agent at the Flynn, Joe Pientka. This is very big.
Now what appears is very much along the lines of what we suggested:
1) Deep Stroke said that Flynn didn’t lie. McCabre later decides he needs to get rid of Flynn and doctors the 302 FISA after-the-fact summary. Either Deep Stroke goes along with it, or doesn’t know about it (I’m in the weeds here and don’t really care). The point is, the 302 is doctored at a significantly high level: McCabre.
2) Now the question is whether Mulehead and Horowtiz knew at this point about the doctored 302 or whether McCabre foists a phony document on Mulehead. There are good arguments both ways. However, increasingly it looks like much of this was known early by some people in DOJ.
3) It is now looking more likely that FLYNN knew exactly what was happening, was engaged (via Rogers’ admonition) to go “deep spook” on these guys and allow himself to be charged. He knew, for example, that the phony 302s would eventually come out and his case would be tossed.
4) Justice Kennedy is given this information, and knows Contreras is in on it, having accepted what he knew was a phony 302. Contreras given the boot (for now-—possible charges later). Sullivan now says, “Present all exculpatory evidence to Flynn.”
MEANWHILE, DOJ is trying to stall the release of the name until the IG report, hence the meeting with Nunes/Gowdy in which they said, “Ok, we’ll wait a week.” Why would they do that? Because they know something is coming.
Remember, when NUNES learns something, SCHIFTY must be allowed to learn it too: when SCHIFTY learns it, it becomes public immediately.

To give it credibility with never Trump republicans. Also they were trying to get the dossier to be released by the press. McCain's aide took the fifth for a congressional hearing and also gave a deposition in a Buzzfeed libel case.
First they will announce a cure for Cancer then the cabal will be revealed.
