After an opening day dominated by trade talk, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will shift the G7 conversation to other pressing global issues on Saturday climate change and empowering women but at least one leader has opted to skip part of the day's meetings.
U.S. President Donald Trump will leave La Malbaie, Que., early Saturday before G7 leaders are scheduled to have a working session on protecting the world's oceans and redoubling efforts to stave off catastrophic climate change. He will, however, take part in the gender-focused breakfast session billed by Canadian officials as a chance for leaders to draft "concrete actions for the G7 to advance gender equality and women's empowerment." Trudeau appointed the Gender Equality Advisory Council co-chaired by Isabelle Hudon, Canada's ambassador to France, and Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to advise him on recommendations to make at Saturday's meeting with other world leaders.
The council suggested, among other things, funding for "developing and conflict-affected countries" to improve access to a minimum of 12 years of free, safe and quality "gender-responsive education."

Then there is the G20. Then there is the Climate group and the environmental group. Then the Bank groups.
Do a Conference Call. Oh no....you have to travel all over on everyone else's dime.
Why do women have to be given power? Can’t they figbt for it themselves?
G7 is unnecessary.
Trump is a with a bias for action. Productive action, not navel gazing nonsense that is meaningless except if your trying to look progressive.
Maybe because I'm a guy, I just can't see feminism.
EVERY guy, and (at least the ones I grew up with) every girl begins life in teen years yearning to ease that cat scratch fever and THERE is where we learn about ourselves and the rest of the world.
Suddenly, personalities and motivations become a key element in our thinking processes
I wonder if Melinda gives good head .... or if Bill even wants it.
Melinda Gates has never done a worthy thing in her life. Because she married Bill, somehow she was transformed into what?
I love Trump so much for getting out of there before all that tripe and nonsense is babbled. The main message he took was no longer do you idiots tariffs things like dairy products ( Canada- 275%) and we dont hit back!! That is not fair ,so suck it up buttercup and we will see you later!! Go Mr. President!! Trump for 2020!! ( the rats have nothing and no one!)
Here is an idea on empowering women: keep men parading as women out of women’s sports. Allow women to compete with their equals in fair and balanced competition. Radical idea, right?
Well, everybody know that red heads will hit, punch, kick, lots of yelling, too.
They can cover veganism, abortion, wind power, racism, repetitions and a host of other worthless subjects. Trump wont be there. Change it to G6.
Notice her kick. This gender specific kick is of little use in the Make-believe Ballroom.
Merkel et al. are left looking like the fools that they are!
Trump's dancing rings around them!
Yes we do! We also win!! Lol
“...advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.”
This is not a zero-sum game. When the government comes down in favor of one class of citizens over another it means someone loses. In this case men.
If women are equal, then they should compete as men. No special laws are regulations that put men at a disadvantage or a woman an advantage. If they can not succeed without these advantage then they should not hold the job.
The Climate fraud and the War on Men are the world’s big issues.
The council suggested, among other things, funding for “developing and conflict-affected countries” to improve access to a minimum of 12 years of free, safe and quality “gender-responsive education.”
It’s a scam like all funding for sh*tholes. That money will end up in the pockets of the politician’s friends.
