Dinesh D’Souza: Left Had Romney ‘Hiding Under His Desk’ with Tactics that Didn’t Work Against Trump
Breitbart ^ | Michell Moons

Posted on 06/10/2018 1:49:27 AM PDT by EliRoom8

Filmmaker and conservative author Dinesh D’Souza explained the “gangsterization of American politics,” using his own conviction under Obama and his pardon under Trump in a speech to Road to Majority conference attendees in Washington, DC, on Saturday.

He said the left’s attacks that worked on Romney don’t work on Donald Trump. He described the defensive posture of Romney, “up against the wall, hiding under his desk” when his opponents went after him for being too rich. “The problem with accusing Trump of being too rich is is that he sits down and explains to you he’s even richer than you thought,” said D’Souza, eliciting a wave of laughter and applause from the crowd. He explained that this leftist tactic, when used on Trump: “It really doesn’t work.”

The Left hates Trump not because he’s rich but because he understands blue-collar stiffs and he speaks their language.

He’s stealing their voters out from underneath them and they’re livid about it. But he’s protecting their jobs and their income and the Left fears for its future.

No wonder they perceive him as a potent threat.

When Romney goes under the desk, it’s not to hide.

His idea of helping the poor is simple: tighten the labor supply, especially, the labor supply on the lower end. This can be done by stopping illegal immigration and slapping tariffs (making cheap overseas labor unattractive.)
No need to expand social programs. Just let them earn decent money, and many problems will solve themselves.

I tend to agree. You could write a 800-page book on the accusations since December 2015, through the whole election period, then through the first 500 days of the Presidency. You make an accusation....he grins at you, and then he puts out a Tweeter message (bypassing the news media) and points out how stupid the accusation is, and the news media looks foolish.

The worst thing they’ve said and did stick as ‘true’...he eats McDonalds burgers for lunch everyday. He didn’t even deny it.

If you notice now....the ‘Stormy’ thing? There’s no more mileage to it. She’s back to pole dancing to finance her lifestyle.

I think when you get to the summer of 2020 and the election period...just about everyone hyped up and positive over the guy are going to send off $300 to the campaign.

History has shown that while democrats lose states in successful re-election bids (Clinton and Obama) indicating diminishing support, republicans gain states (Ike, Nixon, Reagan, W).

Democrats were in shock when Nixon got 49 states, then again when Reagan did. And they were apoplectic when Bush was re-elected. The left always goes too far and will nominate a loon. And we may see another massive landslide.

The defensive mod of a Romney-type to the Lefts attacks simply encourages repeated attacks by the Left. This puts a candidate in a constantly defensive position and makes them look not only weak, but it leaves the Left in control of the messaging. This tactic by the Left makes judge and jury.

Trump short-circuits this tactic by the Left and they become apoplectic and in turn self destruct. A class example was the MS13 “animals” comment by Trump resulting in Pelosi now defending MS13. Brilliant.

Accuser: “Trump slept with prostitutes.”

Trump: “In comparison to your wife, they were goddesses. Are you married to Rosie O’donnell???” “You must have had beer goggles on.”

He’s brash and bellicose and takes every accusation full force full body. Then he punches back and he knows where to hit but sometimes has a problem determining how hard to hit. His default is hard, relentless or just stupendously memorable.

He has destroyed CNN and they are doing everything they can to bring him down. Trump has been the lead topic in 95% of all the news cycles for 30 months.

“No wonder they perceive him as a potent threat.”

The left always knew that a Conservative Populist could literally WIPE THEM OUT, by appealing to what had been the base of the left (minorities, working class whites, etc.), so they did EVERYTHING in their power to prevent those kinds of candidates from gaining power.

And their main weapon was FEAR. The FEAR that a leader like that would simply destroy the country, especially for their prior base (again, minorities and working class whites) - who still voted Democrat, but are otherwise totally ignored by Democrats. As long as these people FEARED people like Trump, and voted him down, then the myth would continued.

But they also knew that if someone like Trump would slip through and show the country (and now the world) that things can be better, much better for the left-behinds of the Democrats that they were FINISHED. And now we’re there, with Trump holding his base solid, while also picking up black support.

The kill shots will be the next 2 elections. If our side wins those, the Left will have to seriously regroup and most likely move strongly in our direction, if they want to ever compete again.

he understands blue-collar stiffs and he speaks their language.

Well the problem is that he employs them to build his buildings and knows how his buildings get built. And that is the problem for this globalist, socialist, crony capitalist elite. They think the way things get done is greasing palms - theirs.

Yes, through the politics of personal destruction which has become a broken record of continual implied sexual scandal to the point that no one is listening except those occupying their echo chamber. The funny thing about Trump is that he started off saying I am not a saint or a monk, so what? So they doubled down. But their weapon was fear, not scandal in itself.

I had assumed that a guy who makes a few billion dollars off of a foundation of NY/NJ real estate must have had a LOT of criminal dealings. But we now have the most scrutinized president in history BY FAR, and there is nothing of substance ... nothing. Trump is no choir boy personally, but he is proved to be an unusually honest man in his business dealings.

Kind of reminds me of the Green Hornet, who pretended to be a criminal to get access to criminals.

The popular Bill Clinton inadvertently killed the Stormy Daniels matter by being in the spotlight so much and causing some of his former backers to see the liberal hypocrisy on display.
