You better BELIEVE Matthis, Pompeo and Bolton (particularly Bolton) had a “talking with him” over those comments — and they will have to walk them back ASAP. Just like they had to walk back the statement from the President, without asking for input, that he thought “Panmunjom would make a great site for their meeting” when in fact that was the worst place to have it — Kim would have tactically loved it — and they had to s-can that one ASAP too.
If this is all a way to pry N. Korea away from China and reunify the peninsula, then I say go for it. Sadly, I don’t think China will let it happen—unless they got a secret quid pro quo re: Taiwan. I would only be in favor of that if mainland China reformed and disposed of the communist party first.
The economic sanctions are the boot on Kim’s neck.
The war games are just a reminder and a preparedness drill. They don’t really hurt NK at all.

Good, this whole thing will save us $$$ and NOT at expense of safety. Trump and Kelly are NOT stupid. They know our capability. Such rehearsals will take place elsewhere to keep Pakistan, Russia, China in check.
If Trump and Kelly know our capabilities then why waste money on war games against Russia, China, and Pakistan?
