There’s some merit in a “rainy day fund”, but the problem is when you have a big fat pile of bright shiny money sitting there helpless, someone is going to try to get their hands on it. Someone who will try to convince the state that a rainy day fund isn’t nearly as important as giving the money to them.

But if they solve problems, then it makes it harder for them to control our lives...

This is why they are 5th largest economy in the world. They are smart to keep it for the nexus t down turn unlike other then states that are not doing the savings. As a conservative, this move to save should be positive.

All the money in the world is not enough. Bigger government has a bigger appetite.

I don’t believe for a second that they’re actually cash rich. If they are Jerry Brown can sink that money into the Bullet train for a few more years before it gets scrapped. Or provide janitorial services to huge blue cities with Sh*t, used syringes, condoms and women thingies.

Someone needs to get this info to Trump.

Jerry Brown cried & cried for a Federal grant to fix the Oroville dam spillway. Told Trump Calif didn’t have enough $$$$ to fix it. Apparently, Jerry told a whopper of a lie to Trump.

There had been a large ‘water bond’ a few years earlier, with no accounting for where that money went, and now Calif wants another ‘water bond.

I thought that myself, and then I thought that even if they wanted to, I’m not sure they’d legally be allowed to.

Because, in a Marxist State, all assets are the property of The Collective.

This all just slight of hand bullshit from the democrats, with all the pension liability, free food, lodging and healthcare to illegals, robbing from the highway fund, lack of spending on critical infrastructure, can you say dam spillways, and ridiculous boondoggles like Moonbeams bullet train up the ass of California taxpayers to cap his lifetime achievement of screwing California residents I can guarantee that the so called surplus is as bogus as a three dollar bill.

refusing to return the surplus to taxpayers was Brown’s mistake in his first reign. It lead to prop 13. Now we will revoke his gas taxes in November.

We should stop paying benefits for illegals. That’s 20-21 billion year. Would easily take care of pensions. But brown has not significantly changed the rich pension formula and the problem will get worse before it gets better.

The surplus is real.

The CA economy is booming and the taxes are high.

But most assuredly, it will not last.

Maybe if they actually spent all that gas tax (going up again) actually on repairing highways and roads (as was the original reason for the tax)??

Sacramento has been squandering money on leftist agenda driven garbage for years.
