Mark Sanford blew up his marriage and became a national laughingstock when he sneaked off his job as South Carolina governor for a tryst with his Argentine lover.
After he forsook his presidential ambitions and spent time in political purgatory, voters forgave Sanford’s trespass and, in 2013, elected him their representative in Congress.
But on Tuesday, Sanford was tossed from office by his Republican constituents for committing a far graver sin: criticizing President Trump.
With his bulldozing personality, Trump has transformed the GOP from a party of anti-communist cold warriors to one that coos over North Korea’s communist dictator, from a champion of free trade to an instigator of trade wars.
And woe to those within the party who challenge his direction or judgment.

No one is cooing over Kim. What Trump IS doing is taking away his crazy dangerous toys.
Compare that to Clintoon who gave him much of the technology needed for his crazy dangerous toys. Compare that to other presidents who gave NK money and concessions in return for.... more belligerence.

That's a pretty good analysis. The GOP doesn't stand for anything except K Street lobbyists. The GOP at their best are country club Republicans, at worst they are traitors to their oath of office.
For example, Paul Ryan only represents what amounts to a handful of corporate backers. He has not shown any leadership ability. Likewise with McConnell. A couple of real leaders, and true believers in this country would not have squandered their power. They had a real chance to fix a lot that is broken, and instead took their power and shitted it away.
I dislike the Republicans party almost as much as I despise the Democrats. Over three decades ago I started to become concerned about illegal immigration. In that time I wrote dozens of letters to my representatives. Never once did receive a reply in return my letters other then requests for donations or info-junk (e.g. "beware of the Emerald Ash Borer!").
To borrow a phrase from P.J. O'Rourke, a Republican's only purpose in life is "converting beef and alcohol into smells and phlegm".

Yep....right on. They’re violently insane in varying degrees depending on how rotted out their pea brains have become brought on by the mental disease known is liberalism. The more rotted out they become, the more violent, intolerant and vicious they become. That is why they’re going to great extremes in an attempt to disarm and demonize us. Without our guns, they’d heard us into the gas chambers just like Hitler did. They are diabolically evil to the core....they know no bottom. Godless creatures they are.
