SPLC Apologizes, Pays Settlement to Islamic Reformer It Wrongly Labeled ‘Anti-Muslim Extremist’
National Review ^ | 6-18-18 | Jack Crowe

The Southern Poverty Law Center has reached a settlement with liberal Islamic reformer Maajid Nawaz and his organization, the Quilliam Foundation, for wrongly including them on its now-defunct list of “anti-Muslim extremists.”

The SPLC announced Monday that it has agreed to pay Nawaz and Quilliam $3.375 million “to fund their work to fight anti-Muslim bigotry and extremism.” The settlement was the result of a lawsuit Nawaz filed in April over his inclusion on the SPLC’s “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists.”......."

Anti-Moslem extremism: calling Moslem a name.

Want to figure what anti-anything by Moslems is?

I did not realize how long they have been around. Watched a movie made in 94 or so...they had a SPLC lawyer on it.

The SPLC was founded in August 1971.

“Reformer” can mean mega-fanatic terror organization, though.

Actually, it could be a shrewd way of funding this crap organization by officially losing (settling) it in a lawsuit.

I don't believe this for a moment. This is a laundered money donation to a fellow leftist under the guise of a ‘lawsuit’.

Don’t mean to rain on the parade but sounds to me more like a money-laundering scheme to move donations from leftists corporate donors into the hands of “moderate Muslims”.

Wake me up when SPLC pays a multimillion dollar “settlement” to the Family Research Council where SPLC-inspired, attempted-mass-murderer Floyd Corkins made a name for himself before God intervened and stopped him.

And will they donate to Rep. Steve Scalise since the “hate” label they love to recklessly throw around seems to be the inspiration of SPLC fan and would-be political assassin, James Hodgkinson?

When they have over $300 Million in assets, so much that they are moving them into off-shore bank accounts, and they are getting over a million a week in “donations” for their “non-profit” work, a few million doled out to a non-Christian, non-conservative group does not impress me.

If SPLC was not made up of a big, nasty ball of slimy, corrupt lawyers, they’d be a very good candidate for a RICO investigation. As it stands, that is about as likely as the FBI top brass leading an unbiased self-investigation. They’re corrupt like the now-defunct ACORN, but more crafty and careful. With the ties these folks have, it must be full of the same cabal of elite power and money brokers who traffic in children around the world. I have no evidence this is the case, but we know that this problem exists from numerous cases, and people are known by the company they keep.

The SPLC is a charity-funded hate group designed to give leftists cover by labeling opponents hate groups.

In a very real way the SPLC is a political terrorist group. The US Government should designate it as such.

“The Family Research Council has to sue to get paid.”

If FRC sues, they will lose money, as the attorneys at SLPC will run them through the courts. It’s part of deep-pockets-theory of current and unreformed tort law. SPLC would NEVER settle with an entity like FRC. FRC is the antithesis of SPLC.

The reason they “settled” this is to give them cover for a massive donation and as a public endorsement of “moderate” Islam.

It’s the equivalent of accidentally labeling a Unitarian homosexual-led church as a hate group and then “settling” with them out of court for a ridiculous amount because they are, ideologically and in reality, aligned.

I’m not buying it. They probably wanted to set some sort of legal precedent for something in the works as well.

And who's going to do that? The FBI?

That is silly. The don't need cover to make a donation. SPLC made a mistake, would not back off, thought better of that, and paid off rather than lose more money in court.

The SPLC is, to me, a Communist subversive organization. Always has been. Except that more recently its also “morphed laterally” to become a TRUE “Hate Group” in every single conceivable way.

We used to know how to deal with these scumbags in the 1920s and 1950s. Today they run a good part of DC, most of the media, and virtually all of academia. I cry for my adopted country. And for the future of what’s left of Western Civilization. Humanity’s hope, long range, is in the Orient.

Otherwise a new Dark Age beckons just before the horizon....

No it isn’t. You really think they would have lost in court or got a settlement of this nature?

“’The Southern Poverty Law Center was wrong to include Maajid Nawaz and the Quilliam Foundation in our Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists. Since we published the Field Guide, we have taken the time to do more research and have consulted with human rights advocates we respect,’ SPLC president Richard Cohen said in a statement. ‘We’ve found that Mr. Nawaz and Quilliam have made valuable and important contributions to public discourse, including by promoting pluralism and condemning both anti-Muslim bigotry and Islamist extremism. Although we may have our differences with some of the positions that Mr. Nawaz and Quilliam have taken, they are most certainly not anti-Muslim extremists. We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to Mr. Nawaz, Quilliam, and our readers for the error, and we wish Mr. Nawaz and Quilliam all the best.’”

In other words, “we are going to pay because it turns out you actually mostly agree with our ideology.”

It has NOTHING to do with the merits of the case. It has everything to do with being ideologically aligned. SPLC is HAPPY to give them millions.

They would rather go on a murderous rampage than give money to FRC. They still list them as a hate group:

https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/group/family-research-council

And FRC did sue SPLC:

https://www.frc.org/newsroom/family-research-council-statement-on-d-james-kennedy-ministries-lawsuit-against-the-southern-poverty-law-center

SPLC is a terrorism-promoting, radical-left hate group and organized criminal enterprise disguised as a legal and human rights organization.

It is full of perverse and wicked individuals who would make the world a far better place if they were no longer in it.

You are making it more complex than it is. SPLC screwed up, was stubborn and would not back off until they realized they were better off apologizing and paying.
