The piece included a vociferous defense of Shah from Hope Hicks, the former right-hand day-to-day woman for President Trump.

Am I reading that correctly? So, maybe Hope Hicks leaving the White House wasn't her decision, but perhaps with the "help" of someone finding out she's a "never-Trumper". I could be jumping to a huge conclusion, but if she's sticking up for Shah it certainly sounds like she's more in line with him than her former boss..
