That would be the ultimate boondoggle. If he does that, they will know they can beat him down with pressure anytime he does something they don't like. Things will go right back to large numbers of people taking advantage of catch and release bringing children illegally across the border on dangerous journeys, abusing the asylum laws, and more child trafficking. This is exactly what the Democrats want by the way. They don't care about the consequences open borders have on kids such as those being trafficked, unaccompanied minors, smugglers, etc. They don't want to fix anything. They want status quo. Schumer is demanding Trump do this.
It would be an embarrassment for the White House which first of all has handled this poorly from a communications perspective. If this is your policy, you know it is going to get a reaction like this. You should have an A game communications department ready to set the narrative. Instead, Trump did not do a good job articulating it by just blaming the Democrats without explanation. The only person that explained it well was Neilson, but that was days too late when everyone from Trump to his surrogates should have been sticking to that explanation. Meanwhile, the communication's staff continues to allow the narrative to be out there that Trump put's kids in cages when he's using the same facilities that Obama used. No one has even bothered to put out comparison photos. Trump should have Tweeted them.
The best way to handle this - sign the Ted Cruz bill. Support it and vote on it. This will end the catch and release loophole, will add more judges, and keep the families together. I know they want comprehensive reform, but the Cruz Bill deals with a specific problem and can end this situation. It will end the bad PR with midterms coming up, and the kids will be happy. Work on everything else after.
Trump really needs to do an address to the nation free of media spin on the immigration crisis too.

You will see this tactic played over and over again through October.
A judge will tell Trump he can't keep the kids in detention with the parents and that he must follow the law. Trump can then say that his hands are tied. Let's get a complete immigration fix with a wall.
The press will continue to dump on Trump, but I think a strong majority of the people will support Trump and the rule of law verses the press and judges.
I predict a strong Republican win in November.

Congress allowed our immigration problem to fester and Congress should fix it.
The President shouldn’t let them off the hook with an ill-advised EO that would validate the Democrat talking point the separation practice is a Trump policy.

I’m going to trust Trump on this. Here is what he said on Twitter an hour ago.

No, the DNA thing is not by itself an answer...look at what constitutes a “family” to the Left. They will say they are adopted, they are unofficial “guardians”, they are a Gay “family” with genes out of a test tube...and on and on. The Communist Left is waiting for this one, it just plays right into their “there are many kinds of family” crap that they are flooding our society with.
If they claim to be a parent, then place them together..If they claim not to be a parent, then the child is unaccompanied and will be placed with other unaccompanied children until they can be sent back to parent or relative...
Honestly, I don’t know why they decided to this now anyway. It’s clear they didn’t have a communication’s staff ready to respond to the outcry. They had to know it would be unpopular. Polls show it as such, and the midterms are coming up. They’d have been better to do a Trump speech & put out some videos showing the crisis at the border and why we need to end catch release. Waffling now, however, looks bad too. That Executive Order will be struck down faster than you can say judge in Hawaii. The best thing now is to sign the Cruz Bill to allow children to stay with their parents and correct the loopholes.

3. if they try to come back they'll have to pay the gangs again for passage. AND we'll send them back again.

They’re already using this as a campaign issue. I don’t know how I got on this woman’s list, but I believe it’s important to know what they’re saying and doing, so I haven’t asked them to remove me.

The appalling tearing apart of families has nothing to do with the very real needs to secure our border and fix our immigration system and could be immediately ended if people like Congressman Davis had the courage to stand up to the leaders in their own party and demand it.
Davis has spent years in Washington and could have addressed this problem a long time ago. But instead he has done nothing to work across the aisle to find solutions to this unjust humanitarian crisis. It would be far easier to make the needed changes happen if he would work across the aisle rather than constantly play the blame game.
I will not sit idly by as this Administration and career politicians like Congressman Rodney Davis use this atrocity as a political punch line. Join me now and demand that this Administration STOPS the separation of children from their parents at the border!
Despite what they say, there is no law forcing children to be separate from their parents. If we don’t act, this Administration and its incumbent enablers in Washington will continue this cruel “zero tolerance” policy. Rodney Davis and his career politician colleagues will be judged on their failure to act against this humanitarian crisis.

Hope this is not true. Just follow the law. It is Congress that needs to act.
He should end the separation. And he should also insist parents stop sending their kids across the border alone.
How about an EO to authorize the following:
“Family” gets to claim parental / child relationship subject to the following restrictions.
1) Family is told that in order to claim such a relationship, it will have to be validated by DNA testing
2) If there is not a parent / child relationship, the individuals waive any and all opportunities for immigration and immigration hearings and will be immediately deported.
