Milo Yiannopoulos: My call for shooting journalists was just a 'troll'
The Hill ^ | June 28, 2018 | Max Greenwood

Posted on 06/28/2018 4:03:40 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

“You’re about to see a raft of news stories claiming that I am responsible for inspiring the deaths of journalists,” Yiannopoulos wrote in a Facebook post. “The truth, as always, is the opposite of what the media tells you.”

“I sent a troll about 'vigilante death squads' as a *private* response to a few hostile journalists who were asking me for comment, basically as a way of saying, 'F---k off.' They then published it,” he continued. “Amazed they were pretending to take my joke as a 'threat,' I reposted these stories on Instagram to mock them – and to make it clear that I wasn’t being serious.”

Yiannopoulos's comments Thursday came shortly after a gunman opened fire in the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Md., leaving at least five people dead and several others seriously injured. Authorities have taken a suspect into custody, but have not yet released an identity or motive.

They’ll make it sound like he sent out a public tweet calling for open season on journalists. That’s not what happened but that’s what they’ll say. In truth, the lefties are the ones who made it public.

At best, a very stupid thing for him to have said.

Considering the “journalists” were calling for violence against us...

They’ll probably blameTrump for calling “fake news.”

From the Daily Mail:

SHOOTING COMES TWO DAYS AFTER MILO YIANNOPOULOS SAID HE 'CAN'T WAIT FOR VIGILANTE SQUADS TO START GUNNING JOURNALISTS DOWN'

As news of the Capital Gazzette shooting broke on Thursday, many on Twitter pointed out that the tragedy comes just two days after conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos cheered the idea of journalists being murdered.

When asked to comment on two different stories being written by The Daily Beast and The Observer, the alt-right poster boy responded with the same one sentence:

'I can't wait for vigilante squads to start gunning journalists down on sight.'

When asked by the Observer to elaborate about what had upset them about their story, about a popular GOP watering hole, Yiannopoulos replied that it was his 'standard response to a request for comment'.

(The Daily Beast's story was about the UK Independence Party.)

It's still unclear what inspired Thursday's shooting.

DailyMail.com reached out to Yiannopolis for comment, and he responded, saying there was no evidence, as his critics said online, that he may have inspired the attack.

In a longer statement on his website, he said if anyone is to blame, it's the two outlets that published his statements, which were meant to be private.

'I sent a troll about 'vigilante death squads' as a *private* response to a few hostile journalists who were asking me for comment, basically as a way of saying, 'F*** off.' They then published it...

'If there turns out to be any dimension to this crime related to my private, misreported remarks, the responsibility for that lies squarely and wholly with Will Sommer of the Beast and the Observer's Davis Richardson for drumming up fake hysteria about a private joke, and with the verified liberals who pretended they thought I was serious,' he said.

The 33-year-old Brit was forced out of his role as a senior editor at Breitbart in February 2017, after interviews surfaced of him expressing sympathy for pedophiles.

Since then he has self-published an autobiography titled 'Dangerous' which became an Amazon.com best seller. Simon & Schuster was originally supposed to release the book, but ended the business deal over the pedophile scandal.

Story embedded in the below Daily Mail story:

'Ponytailed' white male carrying a 'long gun' and explosive device shoots at least five dead and leaves three 'gravely injured' at Maryland's Capital Gazette newsroom, as cops reveal he purposely damaged his fingertips so he couldn't be identified

Sorry, this is beyond trolling. It is stupid and irresponsible. What will be his excuse if some deranged killer says he just did as Milo directed?

Milo’s “joke” went over about as well as Melania’s “Jacket” from last week. Both appear poorly planned and of little short term benefit to that person.

Milo, Milo, Milo.

You have been around long enough to know as soon as you hit 'send', it is no longer private.

This in no way has any comparison to a jacket. Sorry, we don’t need that comparison dumped on FLOTUS.

The first rule of telling a joke -- if you have to explain it, ...

I think that was from the John F. Kerry School of Joke-telling.

That was the Enemies Domestic 'Dimocratics' plan all along.

Yiannopoulos's only "crime" was rising to the bait. If he hasn't learned to know better, I will be surprised.

Milo hasn’t figured out by 33 that he needs to act like an adult? He knows media, he know sthey will twsit and use things improperly and yet he chose to write what he did?

Sure we recently got thru 8 years of children in adult bodies run amuck in the WH and all around but Milo should know better than the liberals. Blaming others does not help you grow up Milo.

As much as I like him, he earlier stepped into it regarding pedophilia. It wasn’t that he said it was a good good, it was only that he didn’t say it was a bad thing, strong enough...and it cost him, big time.
