Scott Pruitt EPA replacement Andrew Wheeler won't be any better for environment, green groups say
NBCNews ^ | July 5, 2018 | James Rainey and Leigh Ann Caldwell

Green groups cheered the resignation Thursday of Scott Pruitt, saying the Environmental Protection Agency administrator’s multiple ethical lapses and pro-polluter tilt made him unsuitable for the nation’s highest environmental post.

But the activists doubted that the departure, announced by President Trump via Twitter, would change the administration's policies. The EPA will now be led by an interim chief, Andrew Wheeler, who was a coal industry lobbyist before he was confirmed as Pruitt's deputy in April.

Pruitt’s tenure was marked by more than a dozen investigations into alleged conflicts of interest and controversial spending of taxpayer funds — ranging from his use of an outsized security detail, to his scheduling of numerous expensive foreign trips, to his acceptance of what appeared to be a below-market condominium rental connected to a lobbyist.

If the Left makes it impossible to fix the EPA, then it should be abolished.

Trump gave a good-faith effort to save it.

The EPA is it’s own toxic waste site. If the democrats are going to obstruct the clean up, then get rid of it. Republicans started the EPA, republicans should end it.

Listen I feel about the climate change what most or all of you do but there’s another issue here. Industries have by-products that are poison — stuff that gives you cancer and messes up your kids’ genes — and it’s cheaper to dump that stuff in the nearest river than it is to filter it and contain it, so human nature being what it is, somebody’s gotta say unh-unh, Mr. NIce Factory owner who we value cause you make jobs, we want you here and we want you making a nice profit, but you can’t dump that in the river, and to me that’s like the police saying to the hood on the corner unh-unh, i know it’s easier for you to break into that dark house and take their stuff than it is for you to go out and earn a living but that’s not how it works. Te EPA at its best — which it ain’! — can be like the cop that keeps the hood from messing with you and that’s got to be sorted out from the liberal BS but if we just make it go away and there’s no cop keeping the cadium out of our drinking water we will not be happy, cause it’s not just liberals who drink it.

States care of most of that. Even where the EPA regulates, it makes the states come up with plans and implement them. The only real role for the EPA was setting some nationwide standards in some cases and cleaning up superfund sites that were created by the country as a whole.

The standards setting should require a staff of 50 or 100.

some good news:

5 Jul: Bloomberg: UN’s Green Climate Fund at ‘Low Point’ After Director Resigns
By Jess Shankleman
The head of the Green Climate Fund, set up by the United Nations in the fight against global warming, stepped down abruptly after less than two years on the job, leaving the organization’s future in doubt.

Howard Bamsey, an Australian diplomat who served as the GCF’s executive director since January 2017, resigned after a “difficult” meeting in which no new projects were approved, according to a statement released after the gathering in Songdo, South Korea...

“Everyone said this is the low point,” said Jasmine Hyman, an environmental consultant at the British firm E Co. who attended the meeting. “This was a disappointing meeting but hopefully it’s a canary in the mine and not a nail in the coffin.”...

GCF funding supports 76 projects worldwide and a staff of 250 in Songdo. Bage said the fund has started the process of finding a new executive director

5 Jul: AmericanThinker: UN’s ‘Green Climate Fund’ boondoggle falling apart thanks to President Trump
By Thomas Lifson
Like so many other global warmist gatherings of well paid officials in luxurious and exotic locales, this one was supposed to share the joy of distributing other people’s money and being praised for it. But President Trump turned off the spigot from the United States Treasury, and nobody else was willing to step up and replace the American cash with his own...

If the other developed countries (I’m looking at you, Chancellor Merkel) aren’t willing to replace the American cash, maybe they don’t really believe all the scary predictions. It’s enough to make one suspect that we have been suckered all along

The way I read it, Pruitt said he was leaving because of the harassment and threats on his family. I suspect his resignation will only bloody the waters making liberal sharks even more frenzied. If we had an AG worth a crap, some of these threats and exposing residence addresses etc, would be considered endangering private citizens.
