Police on Friday raced to find the object that contaminated a British couple with the Soviet-made Novichok nerve agent in southwestern England where a former Russian spy was poisoned with the same toxin four months ago.

The second attempt at poisoning them succeeded, and then the second people later came into contact with the poison from the first attempt. It fits because they were both in the same area."
What is curious about this is that a hundred days have passed, and wherever the ‘agent’ dropped the stuff....today, it’s still active.
Or maybe Russia had nothing to do with it.
There has been no evidence provided that the toxin was “Soviet-made” or had Russian origins.
Britain has the problem with Russia, not the USA. If this keeps up, May is going to end up glowing in the dark!
Novichok is reported to be the deadliest nerve agent in the world - ten times deadlier than VX (the nerve agent used by North Korea to poison Kim’s step-brother, who died almost immediately).
So how come the victims are all alive (and the Skripols and the PD who found them are recovered)? Strange.
Britain has a bigger problem with us being friendly with Russia, too bad. I don’t overly trust the Russians but I trust them more than I do the British.

Maybe this couple were actually targeted because they too might be spies.......
There was an article the other day, I think in the Telegraph, that the agent used has a long shelf life and when deployed, takes a long, long, lonnnnnng, time to "evaporate", which was the word the chem weapon expert used that they cited.
Nasty stuff.

Skripal was still dabbling in spycraft
He could have been double crossing anyone including or esp MI6
He supposedly wrote a letter wanting to return to Russia where his daughter ( last surviving family) chose to live
Maybe letting a double agent go home was inconvenient to Britain given what he had learned about MI6
He made enemies of the Russians he betrayed
The only time novichok was known used to kill, it was a mafia ( Latvian) contract hit
His daughter supposedly wrote that she still,hopes to return to Russia
I doubt that MI6 will ever let either of them go

No they don’t and that alone makes them superior to the British who smile as they turn the knife.
oddly enough, as I was watching the news conference, I remember thinking “And this is what it looks like when we the people are being massively lied to. It almost feels like post 9-11, when we were urged to shop in defiance of the bombers.”
Who knows; perhaps these two were recruited to carry out the original assault on the Skripals, and got careless disposing of the poison. They seem the sort who could be gotten to do anything for money or drugs.
And what was Russia's motive to kill an ex-spy that apparently wanted to return home to Russia?
