Michael Cohen’s tapes of Trump could get him disbarred, experts say
Washington Examiner ^ | July 26, 2018

Attorney Michael Cohen could lose his law license as the result of secretly recording former client President Trump, experts say, as current Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani raises the prospect Cohen committed serious professional misconduct.

Giuliani said Wednesday he believes Cohen will face attorney discipline after Cohen attorney Lanny Davis gave CNN audio of Trump discussing a pay-off for former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who alleged an affair.

"I don’t think we have to do anything about that, I think the bar association will," Giuliani told the Washington Examiner.

If the 2016 conversation took place in New York, it was perfectly legal to record. But an array of ethical issues could dog Cohen.

Imagine if Cohen had been Hillary’s lawyer and pulled this stunt.

How much did the dems pay him to release the tapes? And the promises of more money if he successfully brings Trump down?
No proof, but you know it’s true.

How many people in NY knew that it was “perfectly legal” to have their lawyer taping confidential conversations without their permission?

Wonder if it would have been “legal” for the slime ball Cohen to have attempted to blackmail the President in order to get a pardon? Inquiring minds want to know.

That’s should be disbarred. And no one will ever trust him again. I 50% think he’s destroying his credibility on purpose

He should be. The attorney-client privilege is sacrosanct in the American bar and it exists to protect the client - not the attorney.

The reward must be greater than the risk. Plus he will get off of any charges against him for sure.

He is undoubtedly being paid enough by the coup plotters that he won’t care about disbarment. There are oceans of cash trying to bring down President Trump.

I doubt Cohen is sweating that. Who would ever retain him as a lawyer after this? Or before this for that matter?

But why? Why would anyone completely destroy their own livelihood to “get a dig at Trump” when common sense tells you that Trump is temporary at best. All presidents are. Long after DJT leaves the white house, Cohen has what??? A damaged reputation, no one trusts him, no job. Is it really worth all that?

And what about his other clients? Ya think they’re wondering if this dirtbag attorney recorded them too? Stupid stupid stupid

All Trump has to do is give the nod and his old construction buddies in NYC will resolve the problem. However, that is not a Trump tactic, only a Clinton one.

That’s right on the mark. No damages = no case. Loss of profession = damages. Need to do that before filing an action to recover ‘damages’. Firing for cause = no damages. And when Cohen’s office was broken into (door removed from hinges) the agents came in yelling “where’s the tape?”, indicating foreknowledge of the recordings, without identifying the source of their request. Who tipped them off beforehand, and why?

Life insurance on Cohen would be a good investment right now!

Per Wiki: Cohen volunteered for the 1988 presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis,[4] was an intern for Congressman Joe Moakley,[7] and voted for Barack Obama in 2008, though he later became disappointed with Obama.[4]

I am still waiting to see what he is charged with. It is not normal to raid a lawyers office and home, collect every document they have without a suspected crime.

She would have looked so sad at his funeral following his sudden unexpected death.
