Amid growing demands from the corn lobby that the government mandate even more ethanol be blended into the nations gasoline supplies, new finding call such proposals into question. One of the chief claims of the corn lobby is that ethanol is a more green type of energy because its renewable. From there, the argument is extended to claim that its better for the environment all the way around. But the conclusions of a study underlying the latest EPA report on the environmental impact of ethanol (seven years in the making, dating back well into the Obama administration) concludes that the opposite is true. Ethanol produces significant negative impacts on the environment, in some cases worse than the gasoline its supposed to be replacing.

Ethanol is criminal.
It enables gasoline to mix with water.
I am currently exercising my 21st amendment rights by using ethanol the way god intended me to.
So these same “farmers” object to subsidies .... ethanol is nothing but a government ordered subsidy that rapes the farmland for the benefit of big farm corps.
It destroys small engines..My Stihl dealer insists that his customers use Premium fuel, that has NO ethanol,
MTBE was very detrimental to the environment but California insisted on it. They will do the same with ethanol.
The only reason we have it is for congress critters to buy corn farmer votes. It's welfare for corn farmers.

And on top of that, it takes more energy to produce a unit of ethanol than the energy we get from it

What do you mean?
The US has no need, of any kind, for ethanol fuel.
It has always been a bad deal economically, and environmentally. The ethanol mandate should be entirely eliminated.
Ethanol beverages are an entirely different matter.
Non GMO corn for people and cattle, not combustion engines.
A seven-year study concluding results that could have been concluded in 7 hours of 6th grade mathematics.
