“You read the papers and you’re led to believe that the world is a big, scary place," Austin wrote. “People, the narrative goes, are not to be trusted. People are bad. People are evil." “I don’t buy it," he continued. "Evil is a make-believe concept we’ve invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans holding values and beliefs and perspectives different than our own... By and large, humans are kind. Self-interested sometimes, myopic sometimes, but kind. Generous and wonderful and kind.”

To paraphrase Trotsky, you may not be interested in evil, but evil is interested in you.

Exactly. I KNOW some millenials who are as ignorant as this couple. Fortunately, so far, they are plugged in to the real world of making a living and raising a family....and have not ditched it all. Hopefully such efforts will make a deep impression on their psyche and they will get over their pie in the sky viewpoint about the mon-reality of evil.

Yeah, they did not even try to prove that “not all Syrians are like that”, no, they specifically said there was no evil in Syria. Unbelievable. And this is probably due to their hate of America. Behind every charity crap like this, you can bet there is a genuine hate of the poor and taking care of their own country
