Maybe because, where I live, about 90% of the mugshots involving violent crime on the local news are young black men? (80% of statistics are made up on the spot.)

Which in all too many cases, regrettably, means involved in criminal behavior. If black crime was a rare phenomenon, I'd agree with them. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

But they were still much more likely to be shot by a black suspect than a white suspect.
But if I call the cops and say that I’ll be branded a racist. God forbid a cop actually stop him and inquire about the backpack.
Or the backpack is part of a setup to artificially create a racial incident when the cops DO inquire.
Strangely I never see white kids that age carrying backpacks in July. If it were a ghetto fashion trend you know there would be white kids out there mimicking it.
A friend of mine posted in social media about going to the movies, and having two women in their 30s talking loudly throughout the movie.
He didn’t mention race up front, but later when describing their topics (how bad white people are, for one), it was clear these were black women.
When he politely asked them to be quiet during the movie, they shouted at him, and loudly complained that no white guy was going to tell them what to do.
He didn’t go get an usher, but another patron did. However, the usher never came.
My guess is the usher heard “2 black women talking loudly”, and decided he wasn’t going to be the next white guy to lose his job and be a pariah on the internet for “confronting black people for no reason”
I told the guy I was surprised they didn’t film HIS talking to them, with the hopes of posting it on the internet as another example of the “white man being racist”.
It is a shame we have to think like this, but we have long lost King’s dream of a color-blind society. I lived through abject racism, through the civil rights movement, through riots, through forced school integration, through progress, to a generation that was well on their way to ignoring the color of one’s skin.
But that was not politically expedient for liberals wishing to keep minorities in their place.
And I can NOT remember a time that was more racially polarized, and where we were forced to be more racially conscious, than today.
In our area he is most likely a Spanish-speaking worker going to or coming from work. Water, change of clothes and maybe lunch in the backpack.
That's fair. Suspicious BEHAVIOR should be the standard.
Trayvon Martin was an outstanding example. A white behaving the same way would have gotten the same attention, and the same eventual outcome.
in addition to the other comment, napping was not allowed in that area. The other grad student went to use the room (where the lights were out), turned them on and found the room occupied by the sleeping woman (who likely said something to her about waking her up).
The student told her she wasn’t allowed to sleep in the common areas (which was true), and that she was calling security.
In response the black woman followed the white woman up to her dorm room, knocked on the door, and entered and started videotaping her while berating her as a racist.
The campus security showed up, and the black woman refused to give them her ID.
Then, whe she did, through no fault of her own it turned out her name on the ID didn’t match the school database, so it took them a little time to verify she was allowed in that building. At which time they left.
THe issue apparently is that black people are no longer allowed to be asked about what they are doing.
I say this as a white person who, because I play Pokemon and therefore am out at night parking in a lot of places, has been approached by police officers 6 times in the past year and a half.
And not once did I act like they had no right to ask me questions, or feel like i was being unfairly targeted. And at no time did they hassle me. They were polite, one time noting that I had messed up my car stickers on my licence plate.

Maybe the question I should have asked is, how is their kneeling in disrespect to the country and our national anthem, supposed to change this myth about cops killing blacks? By kneeling, how are these players effecting any change in that phantom issue?
The only change I see (given that the cops killing hundreds of blacks is a lie to begin with) is that the people who pay their paychecks, the NFL fans have had it with them.
Eventually, the droves of fans abandoning the NFL because they have become a SJW institution now instead of a professional football organization, will have a negative impact.
And not just on lower attendance, fewer TV viewers, lower TV revenue, less advertiser dollars, less team brand sportswear sold, etc. This is happening already.
But the impact that will hurt the teams and specifically the players the most will be reduced salaries and bonuses for the players, not more.
While the rest of the country is double face-palming their foreheads in wonderment about how these people could be so stupid, the kneeling players are arrogant in thinking they are sticking it to the "man", when what they are really doing is sticking it to themselves.
They just don't see it in their smaller paychecks yet.
I was introduced to the concept in the 90's when a couple of murders in one thought to be safe neighborhood got a lot of press. Pretty soon it was a year of violence. Every attack got front page press. After it was over it turned out that the year had been statistically normal.
That was just one mid-market city's media. This is being run nationally, which pretty much means there will always be an event to confirm the storyline.
As I always say: If you see something that doesn’t make sense, say something that doesn’t make sense.
Here is white, black, or Mexican adult male thieves.
You must live in a better town. Here they’re white, black, or Mexican male adult thieves. Why work when you can steal?
And need to understand that culture matters, and crime stats by demographic are not fictional.
