To Democrats, Labor Day is about union leaders, not laborers.
Unfortunately, to date, the things that he has done to hurt workers outpace what hes done to help workers, Trumka said.
Trumka has been saying stupid stuff for a long long time.
Perhaps he should ask newly employed minorities and women how they feel about this. Perhaps he should ask his employees how they like their tax cuts.
Just another dumb ass Leftist.
Dick needs to change his last name to Trump-caca.
And get that dead squirrek off of his head.
Squirrel
Trumpka is working to rally the union members before the elections. He would work well with a Socialist not a Capitalist.
Trumkas closet skeletons extend to corruption, specifically, a pair of money-laundering schemes, among a half-dozen totaling $885,000 that helped re-elect Teamsters General President Ron Carey in 1996 over his close rival, James P. Hoffa. That election eventually was invalidated, paving the way for Hoffas current presidency. The Teamsters had been under federal oversight since 1989, the result of an out-of-court settlement of the Justice Departments civil RICO suit against the scandal-ridden union. In his report disqualifying Carey from office, the unions special election officer, Kenneth Conboy, concluded that Trumka had laundered $150,000 from the union through the AFL-CIO to a political advocacy group, Citizen Action, which in turn routed $100,000 of the money to the Carey campaign. Conboy also concluded Trumka had participated in another illegal arrangement in which he either contributed or solicited $50,000 in order to bankroll the Carey campaign.
Congress took an interest in the Teamsters election campaign. Trumka wasnt very talkative. Though not subpoenaed to testify before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce at an April 30, 1998 hearing, he indicated beforehand that he would have taken the Fifth Amendment had he been called. His boss, John Sweeney, took his place, telling the committee, I do not believe that Rich Trumka would knowingly participate in a scheme to launder union money into the campaign coffers of a candidate for union office. That statement would have been more convincing if Trumka had appeared.
Union-ism to me is just another “ism” and most suck.
I despise the CWA
Richard Trumka is a stooge for the Democratic Party.
Squirrek is pretty descriptive. And it spares all real squirrels the embarrassment of knowing one of them was used in such a manner.
Trumka was just WAY off the mark with his remark about falling wages and rising gasoline prices. The cost of gasoline is NOT the greatest annual cost of owning a new car, depreciation is. And insurance runs way up there on the list.
A large part of the cost of that automobile is the built-in costs of the union-driven compensation package for RETIRED auto workers, who no longer make a contribution to the value of that automobile. That is a large part of what broke GM, and drove Chrysler Corporation into the arms of foreign investors. Ford only survived because it has less exposure than either of the other two, while the Asian automobile manufacturers simply bypassed most of the union organization efforts altogether. The European manufacturers like Volkswagen thought they could work cooperatively with the unions as they do in Germany, but the driving philosophy of the US unions is to treat the company management like adversaries, not partners.
The top members of the big unions still cannot grasp the idea of working WITH corporate management, unless they can get a seat (veto power) on the board. Which is just another way of throwing obstacles in the way of innovation and enlightened profitability.
Excellent insight and education on your part.
I watched Detroit get killed. Was there, late ‘70’s-early ‘80’s.
Trumka sounds like a Democrat union thug. He does not understand economics. He does not understand statistics. He just wants to find something to criticize about Trump, not supported by data, but by wishful thinking.
What kind of leader is that? Once elected, union thugs are in office forever, so it does not matter what the rank and file paying union dues members think. Unions have much in common with communism.
He looks like something that crawled out from under a rock in the Kremlin.
That was, of course, referring to POTUS and his counterpunch tweet to that union goon.
Trumpka could care the less about the American worker. He has his power seat at the Democrat table and is taking in a huge union salary. The democrats managed to turn being a labor union head into a limousine liberal position.
That is no surprise. He’s only interested about himself
