Last Thursday in the southeastern Brazilian city of Juiz de Fora, Jair Bolsonaro—variously described as “the most misogynistic, hateful elected official in the democratic world” and maybe even “the world’s most repulsive politician”—was nearly stabbed to death while crowd-surfing through a mostly adoring mob.

Bolsonaro, who has been called “The Trump of the Tropics,” has been riding atop Brazil’s presidential polls all summer. Then again, Bolsonaro’s chief rival, former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the leftist Workers’ Party, would be outpolling him if he weren’t currently in prison on a 12-year corruption bid.

Not crazy about people on our side talking about ‘wealth inequality.’

People have what they have and earn what they earn and inherit what they inherit.

As gun confiscation is the only reason for gun registration, discussing wealth inequality is merely a pretext for ‘correcting’ it.

The trouble is, we’ve had a systematic program of de-industrialization of America thanks to “free trade” and a financialization of the economy (i.e. speculation rather than investment and production-driven). This, together with illegal immigrant labor, has basically hollowed out the US middle class and moved us close to the type of class structure typical of banana Republics, with all of the social problems that go along with it.

Yes, they all have very restrictive gun control laws.

Japan and Korea have restrictive gun laws, but they don’t have even 1/100th the murder rates of many Sub-Saharan African or Central American countries. Most of Europe has/had restrictive gun laws, but they had low murder rates until they experienced a mass influx of African and Middle Eastern immigrants.

Yes, culture is the driver on murder rates. Murder rates are likely the most reliable of crime statistics, but even they are suspect in many thuggish countries. China's murder rates are mostly unknown, because the Communist party is known to fudge its figures.

The murder rate in Korea is about 1.9 per 100,000. The murder rate in Japan is about .3 per 100,000.

The highest murder rates in Africa or Central America are in the 30 - 60 per 100,000.

That is more than 100 times the rate of Japan, but far from 100 times the rate of S. Korea. North Korea is said to have a much higher murder rate of 4.7 per 100,000, about the same as the United States.

North Korea makes it very difficult to obtain such data.

Thanks for the stats, I had thought that S. Korea’s murder rate was also less than 1 per 100K like Japan’s.

Jim Goad isn't really on our side. As I remember, his Redneck Manifesto, the first half of which was a highly enjoyable and eye-opening rant against White Guilt, then deteriorated into a call for multiracial socialism.

Having followed Jim Goad's writing for quite a while, I think that his views have evolved over the years. During the time he wrote The Rednecke Manifesto, he seems to have been as something of a liberal, albeit one who rejected the Left's anti-white bigotry and politically correct censorship. Since then, Goad has moved well to the right on just about every issue. There's no sharper or funnier critic of Social Justice Warriors on the web than Goad.
