U.S. incomes rise as poverty rate declines in 2017

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The median U.S. household income rose for a third straight year in 2017 and the poverty rate declined further, government data showed on Wednesday.

The Census Bureau said in its Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage and Supplemental Poverty Measure report that median household incomes increased 1.8 percent to $61,400 last year.

“The median income is statistically tied to the pre-recession estimate for 2007 and 1999, the year with the highest estimated median household income,” said Trudi Renwick, an assistant division chief at the Census Bureau.

“This holds true given that you account for changes in cost of living and a change in the 2014 census question,” she added.

The report also showed the poverty rate — the percentage of people living in poverty — fell to 12.3 percent last year from 12.7 percent in 2016. The Census Bureau also said about 28.5 million residents did not have health insurance in 2017, not statistically different from the previous year.

Let me guess, Criminal Media, we should credit Obozo for getting us out of the Great Recession and putting these recovery plans in place?

The poverty pimps are saddened.....

But not repentant in the least.

Trump has provided only “crumbs” (which the poverty pimps want back), and the “trickle-down” is an illusion, that unfortunately, keeps imposing itself on reality, and binding with it in the firmest manner imaginable. Food stamps, after all, are an indication of failure, and use has been DECREASING.

If the fail rate is falling, then the success rate must be increasing. And people who have enjoyed the fruits of success do not wish to return to the pit of failure.

The Left CANNOT WAIT to put a full STOP to all that FREEDOM THAT BUSINESS, INDUSTRY AND INDIVIDUALS ARE EXPERIENCING.

THEY WILL CERTAINLY TAKE CARE OF THAT.

I hope the pubbies are smart enough to use that theme in their campaign ads.

Vote Democrat: SAY GOODBYE TO FREEDOM

Of course we should. And we should believe that if Trump had not cut taxes and deregulated, the economy would have been even better than it is today. Everybody knows that higher taxes, more government regulation, higher unemployment compensation and food stamps outlays, energy development restrictions, and bad trade deals do wonders for the economy's productivity, growth rate and consumer confidence.

But, but all of the wonderful devastation by the Kenyan has come to naught just because the present President wants people to climb out of poverty
