The Quinn home in Philadelphia is quiet for the first time in 30 years. No kids playing; no healthy cries of babies. The silence came after the City of Philadelphia stopped referring children for foster care with families like the Quinns, who are certified by Catholic Social Services (CSS). The Quinn home in Philadelphia is quiet now, and the silence is deafening.
Earlier this year, the city demanded CSS agree to endorse same-sex couples as foster parents. Citing centuries-old Catholic teaching on marriage and the family, CSS refused, but said it would instead refer same-sex couples to one of the other 29 foster-care agencies partnering with the city. For the city, however, retaining a long-standing partner in the care of needy kids was apparently less important than scoring political points.

Leftists hate diversity. Once people realize that, the more free they are.
The lesson here is that organizations like CSS never should have gotten into bed with these government agencies in the first place. If a religious organization wants to operate foster care service, it should do it without any involvement from Caesar.
Aren’t children generally placed in foster care by government agencies? I am trying to see how the government can be eliminated from the process.
That could happen in cases of child neglect or abandonment where there is a legal process that results in the foster care placement, but I can’t see why an informal system couldn’t be set up by a religious group to serve their own community.
The problem is that the government has taken over child welfare beyond women who voluntarily give kids to private adoption agencies.
The only way to get kids in foster care IS to connect with the government.
I have it on authority from a Lib (ex)friend, that gays are much better parents than most heterosexual couples. This (ex)friend is a PhD and has never had kids, but she sure knows everything about how they should be treated!
