Kavanaugh is better than his senatorial accusers
The Bakersfield Californian ^ | September 13, 2018 | Michael Gerson, The Washington Post.

Posted on 09/13/2018 3:01:32 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

A surefire ideological Kool-Aid test? Those who think Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was wounded during his hearings have heavily imbibed.

Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee set out to prove that Kavanaugh is a mendacious political hack with the strategy of acting like mendacious political hacks. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., offered to sacrifice his political career in a move obviously calculated to serve his political career -- boldly releasing "confidential" committee documents that had already been released and that did nothing to prove Kavanaugh's unfitness. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., hinted darkly at the malignant influence of the Federalist Society -- though it turned out that every member of the current Supreme Court, and Whitehouse himself, had participated in Federalist Society events. Kavanaugh displayed many skills during his Senate hearings, but one above all: the ability to suffer political fools.

A few Democratic members -- including the consistently thoughtful Sen. Chris Coons -- attempted to discuss the law. But this was largely a distraction from a series of "scandals" that never rose above the level of clarifications. Was Kavanaugh somehow responsible for an enhanced interrogation program that was above his security clearance and that he was never briefed about? Was he somehow responsible for knowing that information from swiped Democratic briefing memos had made their way into material he read? Was Kavanaugh somehow personally responsible for the birth-control views of a plaintiff because the nominee made reference to it? This last charge -- summarized by Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., as a "dog whistle going after birth control" -- earned "Four Pinocchios" from The Washington Post's Fact Checker. A day later -- the deception having been demonstrated beyond doubt -- Hillary Clinton embraced it in a tweet....

Gerson is one of the worst never-Trumpers ever.

And even he supports Kavanaugh.

Thinking back to the NYT Anonymous letter, it didn’t mention Judicial picks as something they supported.

Which is a huge tell, in my view.

Start the search in the White House Counsel Office and the DOJ.

If we only knew; How many of those holier than thou frauds giving Kavanaugh the 3rd degree, have secretly had sexual misconduct accusations paid off using OUR tax money from an illicit slush fund. After the FBI and DOJ have been sanitized, the House and Senate should be cleaned and fumigated. And all the perps should be sent to Gitmo!

I have suspicions about Kellyanne Conway’s husband. He’s a neverTrumper who hates our POTUS’ guts. Would HE perpetrate such an “anonymous” letter and stab the POTUS in the back?

I don’t think the NYT would allow him to represent himself as a “senior govt official”.

There is a reasonable chance that this would come out sooner or later (like Watergate Deep Throat) and the NYT would be tainted forever if this was a complete fabrication.

Mind you, Trump Derangement Syndrome has caused some previously reasonable people to go off the deep end.

But there are multiple people at the NYT who know about this. They are liberal and hate Trump, but they also have an institution to protect - the institution gives them their status

. . . they also have an institution to protect . . .

From whom? They have no credibility or respect, and their reputation is already ruined, except among the Washington insiders. Their audience is leftists and they have totally embraced Lenin's philosophy that lying, killing, rioting, or any other tactic is acceptable if it furthers the socialist cause.

Their clientele cheer this sort of attack, whether it turns out to be true or not. Perhaps especially if it turns out not to be true. There is no check on their political bias.

Now to me that’s odd....after all the lies and fake news the NYT has been publishing these past 18 months. However, I see your point. And really, chances are, the Times cobbled up the whole thing out of thin air.
Thanks for the reply.

But why would you send the NY Slimes Anon Traitor away. I would leave him right in place, put him on the microscope stage and then start grinding his soul away.

The Soviets used to do this. There is a practice, unfortunately I cannot find a reference to it any more, where the Soviets would focus on one individual and suddenly all sorts of things would go wrong. Problems with his paycheck. Leaks in his roof. Electricity would go out. He'd be injured on the job. Just a sudden run of 'bad luck', state-sponsored. They even had a word for it. I wish I could find the facts and references...

Wonderfully convenient. This morning, right here on FR, is a thread which displays how the NYT twists and distorts facts to create Fake News to besmirch the Trump team. Try this on for size: https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3687468/posts
