Trump shares Lou Dobbs segment praising his Puerto Rico claims
Fox News ^ | September 13, 2018

President Trump on Thursday night doubled down on his statements about the 3,000 death toll in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria last year.

Trump retweeted a segment from Fox Business host Lou Dobbs praising the president's statements.

"The numbers were inflated and the president was right to call out the organizations who threw out science, statistics, and evidence to discredit the Trump administration," Dobbs claimed during the segment. Dobbs pointed to the source of the 3,000 number, a study from George Washington University's Milken Institute, which estimated the number of "excess deaths" that occurred from Hurricane Maria, as opposed to normal population fluctuations.

They think they found Trump's Katrina.

More death than Katrina or 9/11.

Is Lou Dobbs right, that these are inflated figures?

No rational person blames TRUMP for Puerto Rico

It is a freaking Island out of nowhere & their electricity grid was a disaster!

Good for DJT. He remains the national leader Americans need, despite a small portion of his base cringing at the unvarnished truth. Trump reminds me daily of the greatness of our nation, and I’ve never cast a more meaningful vote in my life.

The numbers do seem greatly inflated, as there were WAY more than that number who fled from Puerto Rico is the wake of the hurricane damage. Roughly 50,000 to 75,000 Puerto Ricans may have permanently settled in Florida alone since the storm.

Life is good for them here. And remember, this is in a state that is largely under Republican rule, as contrasted with the rather authoritarian rule of the liberal regime in Puerto Rico, who seemed to care much less for their people than President Donald J. Trump.

While the Left and its allies in the media want more dead Porta Ricans for political reasons, President Trump is saving lives. It’s macabre that the left is so giddy the more Porta Rican citizens they can claim as dead.

You’re right, and it’s a real glimpse into the darkness that is the political left. DJT is challenging a blatant lie and I support him 100%.

These Puerto Rican deaths after Hurricane Maria should be counted as to who died DURING the storm. Any deaths after the storm left and after the State of Emergency was lifted is the problem of the Corrupt Puerto Rican Government, lack of power and a horrible electric grid, in addition to the 12-hour daily curfew that the Governor of PR instituted - making it impossible for trucks to deliver goods, gasoline, etc.

Funny how we don’t hear a peep about the US Virgin Islands stats - and they had Irma and Maria pass through their islands. Irma only skidded PR in the north. It’s because the USVI did not politicize their numbers, that’s why! The USVI Governor has lauded and thanked President Trump, that’s why! Some idiot on CNN was saying that there were more deaths in PR after Maria than on 9/11/01. First off, 9/11 was a TERROR ATTACK, not a storm!

I know about Maria — my parents live in Old San Juan!

Knowing the criminal political system aligned with the democrats here, these numbers were doctored. Like with nagan in new Orleans and Katrina, they did nothing and then pointed the finger. We all know people here who have family there and said the system is broke and the corruption is rampant. Remember “never waste a crisis”, drunken joe biden. They use this against their enemies

I understand FEMA hands out cash to families of those who die because of the hurricane. So what do you get? Thousands of claims. I expect there is little verification. That would be racist. So my guess is that many, if not most, of the Puerto Rican deaths are bogus. Claims are probably still being submitted for people who die months later of old age.

The Democrats in Puerto Rico created some commission to review deaths and reassign the causes to the storm.

They just happened to come up with the new figures right before Labor Day and the start of the campaign season.

Its dirty election year politics to hurt Donald J. Trump.
