The U.N. agency that helps Palestinian refugees expressed concern on Friday over moves by the mayor of Jerusalem to close down its operations in the city.
Mayor Nir Barkat said on Thursday he had developed a plan to end the Jerusalem operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which aids Palestinians displaced by the 1948 war of Israels founding and to millions of their descendants, and to replace them with Israeli services.
UNRWA has faced a financial crisis since the United States in August announced it was cutting aid to the body, calling it an irredeemably flawed operation with an endlessly and exponentially expanding community of entitled beneficiaries.
Barkat, on Twitter, said the U.S. decision created an opportunity to change the current situation, which he said would otherwise perpetuate the refugee problem and encourage incitement.
UNRWA, in a statement, said it expresses its concern about recent statements made by the mayor of Jerusalem on its operations and installations in East Jerusalem.

UN anti-Semites are greatly saddened.
Universities and hateful Lefties everywhere mourn.
But, but, it’s a human right to have a Jew-hating Terrorist Central office in Jerusalem.
Universities and hateful Lefties everywhere mourn.
Screw them.

I love happy news.
The shill who wrote the piece capitalized East Jerusalem in support of the notion that the part of the city ethnically cleansed by the racist Hashemite regime in 1948 is somehow a separate entity.
Here’s Amir Tsarfati’s very recent comment on a part of the Palestinian refugee problem:
The Jordanians heard that the Patriot missiles that America has on their soil might be evacuated. The Jordanians are very scared, and that might be a signal from President Trump to the Jordanians that he demands that they give the Palestinian refugees in Jordan equal rights to be assimilated, so that the whole idea of Palestinian refugee issue is off the table for his ultimate peace deal.
Can’t read the article, but Amir made a distinction between the removal of missiles from Kuwait, which is because we don’t need Kuwaiti oil anymore, and the removal from Jordan, which may be more of a deal point in Trump’s hope that Jordan will grant full citizenship rights to the refugees.
Just a few were moved, and the moves have to do with where the current greatest threats are.
Its ridiculous and outrageous propaganda, notwithstanding that the very soil these Refugees were squatting on was Jewish land, dating back to ancient times and given to them by Yahweh Himself.
Can you imagine any other group who lost territory in a war that they perpetrated calling themselves Refugees some 3/4 of a century later? Laughable.
He spoke last week at Jan Markel's conference. I think his speech is on YouTube somewhere.
Yup, and here are the UN's "clients."
East Jerusalem? Where is that? In Palestine?
Interesting. Makes sense, in that our presence there is increasing in general, not decreasing.
Amir points out that this is a confrontation between the two great powers of Russia and the United States (for those who didn’t watch the video).
If you follow the Amir threads, check them out whenever a recent one is sent to the ping list again. I don't start a new thread for every video, especially when they are part of another person's conference--and in this case when there are so many of them by different people that are of interest to us.
Amir always gives us some very interesting details that don’t appear in the news reports.
That’s why I read the NY Times also: there are details that are helpful, even if their take on events is all wrong.
Also with Amir you get the Israeli point of view along with the Christian point of view. That’s in addition to the new facts and details.
he may be a cut above Debka.
