Saying it is a “political battle” diminishes the harm and injury suffered by Kavanaugh. This was expressly vicious. Far more than any political campaign. I would love to see Justice Kavanaugh make a statement that those who engage in willful slander, libel and malicious gossip-mongering do so to their legal peril.

But under our system of justice there is a place where an individual can go to seek redress and accountability for accusations that destroy reputation.

It is a pity that the true offenders in this debacle are immune from prosecution.

Feinstein and the others in the Senate are immune because their offenses were committed with in their official duties.

He doesn't strike me as the type to sue after winning. Besides, he's going to be very busy working on the Supreme Court and doesn't have time for petty stuff like that.

On the other hand, our overpaid and underworked civil servants in the DOJ, Congress, etc. do have time on their hands... and ought to do something about people who fabricate stuff to interfere in the workings of our Republic.

It’s time to draw a comparison between this attempt by the in name only democrats use of the smear tactic and the Moore election. Had Moore been successful would they have tried that now ? I see that will be as a topic we’ll soon be seeing and listening to.

The media turns a little more fair to Trump and the GOP. All the “journalists involved get fired. Want more elements of that deal?

“The phrase ‘penalty of felony’ has to mean something.” I think Sessions just may be waking up.

I think there is a limit to that. I am wondering how much sarcasm there is in that phrase “my friend Feinstein”. I do believe Senators have been convicted of crimes. Feinstein should be no different. Their immunity is limited to slander on the Floor of the Senate, I am pretty sure. Conspiring against the GOvernment of the United States is not gonna be a crime granted immunity by the Constitution.

Didn’t Sessions recuse himself from any DOJ duties?
Besides, RK can sue and donate the money to some battered wives clinic.

Grassley and McConnell recognize the complexities of this travesty of justice and how its tentacles ran into the Deep State at DOJ and FBI.

They and the POTUS remember what Schumer meant when he said to the President (and I paraphrase), "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you" (Source).

From all appearances, it looks like the Deep State and Schumer/Feinstein just tried to make good on that threat. Grassley and Graham (and others less clearly) said as much in Committee last week.

The GOP members of the Senate have been emboldened. Here come da Boom.

While I agree with you in principle I think you would find that the courts would rule in the favor of the Senator.

If they can find the right to kill a child in its mother’s womb in the constitution finding the right for a senator to slander a judge in the during the process of the confirmation hearings is like finding rotten apples in a orchard in August.

Speaking to the press is not a legislative function. Legislators repeating defamatory statements to the media that they said as a legislator on the Senate/House floors, or in committee hearings gives rise to a cause of action for defamation. Senator Proxmire learned that hard lesson when he was sued by a government researcher.

The President should use this “no hard feelings it’s all political” crap to beat the Dems for ripping the country apart and willing to destroy a good family for their little games. It’s unacceptable and they are not a serious people.

Things are changing. What we have seen in the past was a sort of nullification. There just was no point bringing charges for crimes of a political nature in DC for obvious reasons. But there are ways to shift the jurisdiction. Let’s say the polygraph fraud was in Maryland. (Sure, Md is not much better but I wonder what a jury in Rehoboth Beach would look like,) Graham is pretty pissed and Grassley is extremely pissed. I would not want to have two US Senators pissed of at me.

They said Kav lacked the Judicial Restraint... seems to me he was incredibly restrained. There were not dead people on the floor after the accusations were made.

Unlike the case of Tawana Brawley and Al Sharpton, there is serious money to be found here.

Ford and her cabal are all millionaires.

Kavanaugh and Judge should file their defamation lawsuit first thing on Monday morning.

Grassley can (will) pursue the criminal case.
