Twitter: Dem Congressional Candidate Calls for Supreme Court Term Limits and Court Packing
Twitter/ Ro Khanna (California House candidate) ^

After today, does anyone doubt that reforming the Court is a functional imperative for the 21st century: 1. Justices shld be limited to an 18 year term & then serve on court of appeals. 2. Expand Court to 14 so can consider more than 80 cases a year! 7 statutory/7 constitutional

This is a genuine threat from the left. Seeing it pop up a lot today. Needs to be a critical issue for midterms.

I actually think term limits for judges make sense. I don’t want leftists packing the court though.

When the left loses, they want to change the rules.

Yes. I’m sure most Americans would love to go through what we’ve been through in the last month a lot more often.

Term-limits for the House and Senate first, to illustrate their sincerity.

Never allow the Left to regain power. They are responsible for the stinking rot in our culture, and it will take at least two generations to root out the malignant cancer of their ideology. The first step is to boycott Leftist universities and church bodies, breeding grounds for Leftism.

“When the left loses, they want to change the rules.”

Of course, just like the 7 year old mentalities they are.

Democrats changing the rules is what put Kavanaugh in. Now they want to change more rules that they think are impeding themselves. They seem to have no desire to ideas and LEADERSHIP.

Just an observation, but if you shuffled this around to 14 members....wouldn’t that mean that Trump would just go and select five more conservative judges and we’d get five episodes of the Kavanaugh-circus environment?

I do have some agreement that term limits might be worth discussing, but I’d want it for the Justices, the House members, and the Senators. I doubt if the Democrats would be happy with that idea. I’d also suggest a max of ten years or forced retirement of any Justice by age 70.

The last time this court packing business came up...during the FDR era, it scared the Justices a great deal. I just don’t see any support via either the GOP or Democrats to change much of anything.

Eighteen years?

Why not nine and three quarters?

Did any Democratic candidate anywhere in the United States speak out against the vile spectacle of character assassination and the attempt to destroy the life, family and career of a decent Christian man? Did even one have the courage to speak? These people must never be trusted with the power to govern the American people.

It is obvious there needs to be term limits on Senators.

Lacking term limits and having assumed the power of judicial review, the Court has become a law into itself. But packing can get out of hand because we can pack too. The court could end up as large as the New Hampshire legislature.

Speaking as someone whose great-grandfather was murdered by Russian Leftists in 1937, and a large part of whose family was effectively kept in an open-air prison called the USSR for 75 years, I am here to state that you are wrong. The first step is to reanimate Augusto Pinochet and give him a fleet of helicopters.

Not a good idea, but compared to the last Democrat plan of putting all of the justices under massive surveillance for purposes of blackmail and then possibly killing one, it does seem like a step forward, at least on the democrat side.

Dems believe they will win in 2020.

They want to let non-citizens vote and have the Supreme Court approve it.

That’d give them Texas and other states with large numbers of the 22 million illegals here in the US.

FDR suggested packing the SCOTUS when they shot down some of his New Deal legislation. One of the Justices pulled a Roberts and sided with the Dems. It was said at the time, “A switch in time saves nine.”

Those are real threats as number of justices isn’t specified in the Constitution.

I do too. Also for representatives and senators. Say two terms sounds about right
