Your Jersey license is still valid ID at the airport, but not for long

Jersey drivers who want to use their license as identification at the airports are in luck. Federal officials will accept them for another year. But change is coming.

State issued driver's licenses and identification cards will be accepted as valid ID at airports and federal facilities until October 2019 after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security granted an extension.

"Our extension was formally granted yesterday (Tuesday) by the federal Department of Homeland Security, a day ahead of the Oct. 10 deadline," said Jim Hooker, a state Motor Vehicle Commission spokesman.

That extension is for one year, until Oct. 10, 2019, he said.

The California DMV offices are in full melt down now because of real ID standards. Maybe giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens was not such a good idea after all. Ha ha. People are spending all day at the DMV office trying to get real ID drivers license. I heard that more than 20 million people in California have not yet gone to the DMV office for this purpose.

I think it’s funny, that the real ID act was passed as a reaction to 9/11, and 17 years later, states are still trying to figure it all.out. We won World War II in far less time than it’s taken to implement a bureaucratic mandate.

If the state doesn't issue IDs compliant to the new standards then does that mean that everyone in the state is a non-citizen and should be deported? I think not. But I do think that if some lefty states won't do it because they can't make their unionized workforce at the DMV work that hard then they ought to be told "no more extensions. Let's see how it works out for you on election day when half your citizens have been turned away from airports and are unable to fly anywhere because 13 years wasn't enough time for you."

I live in NJ but I have a passport so I'm good. Fewer people flying + fewer dems winning elections = winning!

Not surprised people showed up Election Day 2016 to learn they were not registered. They registered through the NJ DMV, never got a ballot from the county.

Or they believed filing driver license change of address automatically notified Board of elections. HA!

NYS is issuing 3 levels of drivers licenses.

The lowest is not Real ID compliant, but NYS offers it anyway.

I made an apt to get a Real ID. Filled out the paperwork online and made sure I had all the documentation they wanted. An hour after my appt the gal called me, looked at my docs and informed me she wouldn’t accept my marriage cert. Didnt have a gold seal on it. I said....it’s worked for 35 years. She said we used to accept them but no more. You’ll have to order one and I’ll make you another appt. I told her....I had an extension so just back all this stuff out and I’ll renew my passport since apparently it’s easier to get a new passport than it is a Real ID. She said...I can’t do that. Now that you’ve started the process you have to finish it.
I left totally peeved.

Just went through this 1984 like BS in NYS a month ago for an “Enhanced driver license”.

Needed multiple documents, passport, mortgage documents, utility bills [which I no longer get as they are paid on line] to verify who I am, then at the end of the process, I was asked if I wanted to use that information to register to vote [have been registered for decades] in a state which does NOT require voter ID.

Instead of all this unconstitutional big brother government supervision, how about we purge the country of those people who FREELY belong to the world’s oldest, largest terrorist hate cult, which for 1400 years has been masquerading as a religion while at the same time demanding we all must: “Convert or Die”, along with the millions of Criminal Trespassing Invaders the DNC calls undocumented.

Same problem in Minnesota. The Legislature had a fix but was blocked by Gov Mark Dayton (DFL idiot) who wanted the state to issue licenses to illegals. Dayton’s liberal hacks then wasted $60million on a failed vehicle title and licensing system and now Dayton is proposing taking the $10 million earmarked to fix the driver’s license problem to fix the totally failed title and vehicle licensing system. Perhaps when Minnesotans can’t use their drivers license to get on an airplane, enter a federal building or even buy a six pack of beer they will quit voting for liberal Democrats
