Saudi king dismisses top officials as it admits missing journalist was killed at consulate

Saudi Arabia's King Salman reportedly dismissed a key royal adviser and a senior intelligence official the same day the country's state-run media admitted that journalist Jamal Khashoggi died in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

King Salman ordered for Saud al-Qahtani, an adviser to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to be removed, according to the state-run Ikhbariya television, which was reported by Bloomberg News.

The news came as reports surfaced that the Saudis acknowledged that Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist, died after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul earlier this month.

The Saudi government stated that 18 Saudi nationals have been arrested and are being interrogated in connection with the case, according to a press release translated by The New York Times.

A public prosecutor has said that Khashoggi died after a fight broke out in the consulate.

The non-journalist was Osama’s BF, so why should anyone care?

Saudi Arabia’s state-run news agency says King Salman now has a proposal on the “urgent need” to restructure the kingdom’s intelligence services after the slaying of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency made the announcement early Saturday.

It came immediately after the official announcement by the kingdom that Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, was killed at the consulate and that 18 Saudis were detained as suspects in the killing.

Yep. Trump has dealt with this superbly along with Pompeo. Saudi Arabia can now at least pretend to follow some western norms, but wacking a guy like this and allowing the Turks to leverage it was beyond stupid. This guy could have been knifed at a crosswalk, but this was family business...rather old school mobish.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was done by people opposed to MBS. It was crude and obvious. The murder was meant to be discovered and made into an international crisis in order to remove MBS as future Saudi king.

Now you know that Khashoggi was both Saudi and Turkish. He was from a very rich family. He had worked for the CIA and other agencies in other countries. He was a friend of bin Laden at one point. This is not your normal journalist. He was a player. And its not completely settled who’s team he was on at any moment.

This smells like a plot to take down the Crown Prince who has made many enemies among the Saudi elites. Recall that he conducted a shakedown of over 300 of the richest Saudis including Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who was held for 83 days in the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton.

When I was a professor at FIU in Miami they stuck me with 180 Saudi students for one quarter. These guys were going to be the Saudi royal guards and many were part of the royal family. They lie and cheat on a daily basis. It’s an acceptable part of their culture. They do it with a sweet smile on their face. Always remember they do not subscribe to the judeo Christian ethic. They are muslims. King Salmon likely lied to Trump’s face.
