Poll: Republican Mike Braun Surging with Two Weeks Left in Indiana Senate Race
Breitbart ^ | 22 Oct 2018 | Sean Moran

Hoosier businessman and Senate Republican candidate Mike Braun has surged in the Indiana Senate race only two weeks before the November election, according to a poll released on Monday. Sen. Joe Donnelly’s popularity has continued to plummet ever since he decided to vote against Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. Since the Senate confirmation vote, the incumbent Democrat’s favorability and his polling has bottomed out.

According to a recent poll conducted by the Braun campaign from October 14-17, Braun leads Donnelly by 44 to 40 percent, with seven percent backing Lucy Brenton, and five percent of voters remain undecided.

The survey also found Braun leads with those having the highest level of enthusiasm for voting in the midterm elections, a seven-point advantage with those with high propensity voters, and a seven-point advantage with voters who have an opinion of both candidates.

The poll found that three-factor have led to Donnelly’s increasing vulnerability in the Indiana Senate race, which includes:

Donnelly’s inability to garner more than 40 percent ballot support. Donnelly’s approval ratings have eroded to the point where roughly the same amount of Hoosiers approve as disapprove of the incumbent Donnelly has a net unfavorable rating, while Braun gained a net favorable rating. According to the poll, Braun has a 41 percent favorable rating, while the Hoosier businessman has a 34 percent unfavorable rating. In contrast, Sen. Donnelly has a 42 percent unfavorable rating, while 41 percent of Hoosiers have a negative view of the incumbent Democrat.

Further, 45 percent of Indiana voters believe that Donnelly serves as part of the “problem” in Washington, DC, compared to only 34 percent that the Democrat serves as part of the “solution” to America and Indiana’s problems.

Indiana has always been essentially red except for a hiccup during Obama’s first election which is when Donnelly got elected. (probably voter fraud). Since then it’s only been the reddest of red. And I think the “surge” is just that the polls are finally getting honest as we get closer to the election.

Maybe Donnelly should kneel before the flag then light it on fire in order to cement his standing with the Democrat Party base.

Hard to say. Brenton is a Libertarian. I would imagine that she is pulling more votes from Braun than Donnelly.

The polls are starting to reflect reality. There never was a blue wave to begin with. The silly season, with its ludicrous polling, is over.

There is not a red state democratsenator who will win, with the sole exception of maybe Manchin.... and if Manchin does survive it will be because his opponent is sadly incredibly weak.

No, Donnelly got elected during barky’s second election. He only won because the GOP candidate followed Todd Aikman’s example and made a dumb rape comment right before the election.

I was taking to an alleged Michigan RNC insider, he was coy about internals but stated that he was VERY pleased about James’ performance and that the DNC was caught flatfooted having to funnel resources to Stabenow who they considered safe.

He said Hugin and James could be two upsets.

Most of the Donnelly ads in the Louisville Metro market have attempted to portray him as a Trumpian conservative.

Not a good look for a Dem.

Excellent! I had not seen any recent polls here. Indiana is a red state. There is no good reason to send another stooge for Chuck Schumer to the Senate. And no matter what Donnelly claims, that’s what he is.

I feel good about Arizona, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, Florida and North Dakota. Nevada is tight but Heller has consistently had a lead. That leaves Montana. Unseat Tester and it will be a 5 seat pickup in the Senate. That means appointees will sail right through.

I hope President Trump reappoints the Judge for the 9th circuit that had to be withdrawn a couple months ago. Ram him through.

“...ever since he decided to vote against Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. ..”

Democrats must realize their (D) candidates in Congress are not allowed to vote in favor of their constituents wishes, or even their own desires, they must vote according to what the leadership says. The Democrats are well disciplined. Not so the Republicans. The Republicans may own the high road but there are always dissidents.

Turnout in Hamilton (red) County was “historic.” Waiting on any info from Vigo, but I think we’re moving this race almost to a win.
