Democrats have won two Republican-held California state Senate seats in the Central Valley, giving the party veto-proof supermajorities in both chambers of the Legislature.

Vote totals updated since Election Day made winners Monday of Melissa Hurtado and Assemblywoman Anna Caballero.

Hurtado won the open 12th District seat while Caballero defeated Republican Sen. Andy Vidak in the neighboring 14th District. Both are in the Fresno area. Vidak, of Hanford, has held the seat since a special election in 2013.

Under Proposition 13, a 2/3s vote is required to pass a tax increase in the CA legislature. Now for the 2nd time in recent memory Democrats have the 2/3s required to pass any tax increase they want. I believe the last time they had this power they increased gas taxes and imposed a carbon tax. As HL Mencken stated, " Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." I am glad I got out of CA.

I hope they tax all income at 100%. That’s the only way to be fair.

“Melissa Hurtado and Assemblywoman Anna Caballero”

The chickens coming home to roost from Republican squeamishness about stopping illegal immigration.

Now the foreign looter class will go mad, sucking the life out of the host until they move on to the next victim, unable to create and maintain anything on their own.

We have so many Illegal Alien Voters in California that it is not funny any more.

We need to freeze legal immigration and we need a Southern Border Wall so bad right now.

California is liberal Paradise.

Utopia right over there, where you can be utterly ruled against your will, and there is f*** all you can do about it.

OMG we should all move there right now, every last one of us.

I think a lot of out of stagers don’t realize that Jerry Brown has actually moderated by veto some of the wackier impulses of the Legislature. Incoming Gavin Newsom is unlikely to be that. So the headline is misleading. Veto, schmeto . Tax increases is what’s being given free reign here

With economy doing well, it seems a good time for the few remaining California Conservatives to sell out and move to a state where their vote counts.

We’re gettin’ close over here in Calvada. A contested state senate seat down in vegas, if it goes to the dems, will seal the deal. State house, senate, Gov, LT Gov and AG all dem controlled.

I am glad I got out of CA.

My in-laws fled Thousand Oaks this Spring. 1200 sq foot home sold for 800,000.00 after listing at 750k in 2 days.

Moved to CDA, ID.

I asked them why they left beautiful CA, a land where both of their GRANDPARENTS were born (family arrived during gold rush and post civil war)?

His reply, "I can see the writing on the wall. We're a gonner. Better get out while I still can".

After they settled in in CDA, ID, we counted over 1000 years in a CA prison for his gun collection and magazines.

Also, he was in real estate and knew exactly when to sell. Now his home is worth 650k (that was before the fire) 2000 yards east of him.

So now Kalifornia can go over the cliff at full speed, and when they crash and burn, they will look to the Federal government (and you and me) to bail them out.

A number of states seem to be turning quite blue, and I don’t see that trend being reversed.

Conservatives are not being replaced. Liberals are being manufactured at a staggering rate.

Prognosis is not good.
