May vows Brexit will happen despite wave of resignations over her plan to exit E.U.

LONDON — Following a string of devastating resignations from her cabinet over Brexit plans, Prime Minister Theresa May told Parliament on Thursday that Britain will leave the European Union in March, deal or no deal.

May faced a torrent of criticism in the chambers as members of Parliament, including those from her own Conservative Party, stood and denounced her Brexit plans as either a weak capitulation, an act of naive folly or a looming disaster.

Some members pleaded with May to stage a second “People’s Vote” to give citizens another chance to rethink Brexit. Others decried her proposals as condemning Britain to years of unbreakable alliance with European rules and regulations — and failing to make good on the vow to “take back control” as the pro-Brexit campaigns promised two years ago.

Hours before the parliamentary session, May’s government was rocked by a series of protest resignations, including the minister in charge of helping Britain leave the European Union, Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab.

“I know it’s been a frustrating process — it has forced us to confront some very difficult issues,” May conceded before Parliament. “But a good Brexit, a Brexit which is in the national interest is possible. We have persevered and have made a decisive breakthrough.”

That optimistic optic was not visible in Parliament. Hardly anyone stood to support May, as the pound sterling plummeted on currency markets and the hashtag #Brexitshambles was trending.

That’s not Brexit.

It’s indentured servitude to Brussels.

There will be some kind of weekend meetings but I don’t see how May continues on. She’s out within ten to fourteen days.

The so-called deal gives Britt a Brexitime 8n name only. I suspect the resignations are people who want no part of that and are hoping for a no confidence vote.

Bloody phone...

I don't even post if I'm forced to freep on my phone. They are just a pain in the hoo-ha for typing real communications.

These days I mostly post from my tablet, but boy do I miss posting from my desktop. I used it for a short while last night and it was really enjoyable.

Hi.

Similar stuff has been happening on the European continent for centuries. Heck, it’s only been 70 years since the last conflagration.

Methinks there will probably be another war on the continent.

If I’m right, then I ask the President, please do not save France again.

Thank you.

“...do not save France again.”

If we have to save it again we should give it a Constitution, a Governor, a legislature, and admit it into the Union.

“In the national interest”?? How very nationalist of the Prime Minister. Macron must be tut-tutting his way to the bidet.
