Dumb move and pointless. Very few of us have assault weapons / full auto sub-guns.

The real problem is this, we have a society where very deadly weapons capable of mass deaths are readily available. No, the real problem is that we have a society where many members don't understand that very deadly weapons capable of mass deaths shouldn't be used to cause mass deaths.

"Im telling you this is not the 18th Century."
A fascist people in control of some institutions would like to get out of the house once in a while. Right? Swalwell's strange argument neglects its context, which does not include a foreign setting. The context of his argument includes only a domestic setting. It also neglects the fact that there will be no 18th Century environment. An ingenuous people cannot be stripped of their ingenuity by simply removing manufacturing for a while and impoverishing them.

The Australian government at least had the decency to pay market price (or better) for guns turned in during the infamous “buy-back” of the mid-90s.
A story from that time was that they would also pay for related items like SKS stripper clips...whereupon somebody came to their local turn-in facility with two oil drums full of hoarded clips, that they had to count out and pay him $2 AUD apiece.

All the buy back programs I’ve read about here just give you a fifty dollar gift certificate for a gun worth hundreds.

I fail to find that expenditure of the Treasury (aka TAXPAYER $$) anywhere w/i the Constitution.
What I *DO* find is: “...shall NOT be infringed.” and “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” (we’re not talking ‘public use’ here).
Shame neither side of the Uniparty-coin can grasp either concept.

Some mass murderers may have had the motive of convincing the population that gun control is needed and were also willing to get themselves killed to make their point. The obsessive/compulsive hatred in many people of the left is extensive indeed.
And as for “many,” remember that the U.S. population is somewhere over 330 million people. The big media companies are abusing their ability to influence minds and are perpetuating hysterical exaggerations of importance to many. There are enormous numbers of people who don’t live in the states where the outrageously publicized mass murders were committed.

Smiling fascist. Ugh. Yep, he'd look right at home in one of those black uniforms that some Germans used to wear.

Because that's what our Founding Fathers meant by the Second Amendment. To have all the weapons at a "gun range" and the British were for "safe keeping" them at Lexington and Concord

A pistol grip makes a rifle more powerful? I guess Swalwell thinks that there is an extra load of powder tucked away inside the grip. Swalwell is a moron. Whenever he speaks, something is subtracted from the sum total of human knowledge.
