The White House is dropping its effort to strip CNN reporter Jim Acosta of his press credentials, a defeat for President Trump in his campaign against the news media.
The reversal comes after the White House notified Acosta last Friday it may renew its attempts to revoke his press pass after a judge's order restoring it expired. The White House set a Sunday deadline for Acosta to object and said it would make a final decision by 3 p.m. on Monday.
"Having received a formal reply from your counsel to our letter of November 16, we have made a final determination in this process: your hard pass is restored," the White House said in a new letter to Acosta.

Giving acosta one more chance to make an ass of himself is a good move.
The answer is simple. Let him attend. But simply ignore him.

I wonder if Acosta will continue to be a flaming jerk now that there are rules?
He will not disappoint.
He can be kicked out.
CNN can replace him if he becomes persona non grata.
The woman that the acoster acosted should file assault charges.
Him being a jerk is what I’m counting on. I really want this scenario: President Trump freezes out the jackass to the point the jackass explodes, violating the rules which the court pretty much required, leading to aforementioned jackass to whine and cry again, court tells him to go pound whatever it is he’s likely to pound. Major meltdown from mediaites ensues, President slides by more legislation, I laugh myself into a hiccupping-induced stupor.
Shoot, if I can work cheesecake into that scenario it’d be a small slice of heaven on earth.
He is horrible, but the whole network is horrible. It is so biased, like all of news is an opinion piece. I would love to be able to turn to their channel when FOX gets repetitive, but they really are horrible.
This is a good move. Now Acosta has a clean slate with the new, clear rules in place. He will violate them. As GEICO says, that’s who he is. Then, he can be booted in a way the courts will uphold. And CNN can decide whether this POS is worth all the trouble.
At the next press conference, call on him first. He gets to ask one question and then the mic gets passed. If he asks a second question, if it wasn’t accepted by Sanders, she moves on and he shuts up. If he doesn’t, ban CNN for a month. They are responsible for him.
Acosta won a battle but Trump won the war. Acosta will have to behave.
