My first car was a GM product. Never again.

I grew up in a GM family, and have driven their products all my adult life.

I hated what Obama did with (and to) the company, but I refuse to punish the brand for what he, the unions, and the pansy ass management did.

“Amid flagging sales, General Motors confirmed on Monday that it will no longer make the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt, ceasing production on March 1st, 2019.”

the chevy volt was the ultimate obamamobile ... its sole purpose was to suck up to obama when he was Prez ... just like when “donations” to the clinton foundation dropped 90% after there was no play to pay, GM drops their obamamobile for the same reason: no play to pay with obama gone ...

“The EV is used by its Cruise Automation division for autonomous testing, and a future version without steering wheel or pedals is getting ready to go into production.” “

With the coming peak of more senior citizens than youngsters the idea of restricting grandma and grandpa to a car without a steering wheel and pedals is going to be appealing to a market segment.

I will never own a GM product ever again.

I will. I've driven GM products my entire adult life, and have had nothing but good service from them. Sure, there have been the occasional repairs, but no more than comparable brands.

I may be the odd man out here, but GM's my brand, and I will buy more.

July 2010: GM to Increase 2012 Chevrolet Volt Production to 45,000 and Obama Drives a Volt

A few weeks ago GM announced they would be producing 10,000 Chevy Volts in 2011 and 30,000 in 2012. Now apparently due to strong consumer interest the company has decided to increase that second year production number by 50% to 45,000 cars.

Obama's "kiss of death" for anything "green" continues unabated.

In my opinion autonomous vehicles will not survive First Contact with the American tort bar.

My dad loved station wagons.

Was crushed when they went away thanks to Democrats and their CAFE standards. He went to a van (which my mom never liked) and ultimately ended up driving crossovers.

Anything the gov gets involved with turns to sh!t. Washers and dryers suck. Toilets suck. Medical care sucks. Education sucks. Water heaters suck. They have a reverse Midas touch. Why would vehicles be any different?

It’s all about sedans. Americans want SUVs and pickups which are roomier, no more expensive, and equal or better in performance and utility.

“Chevy Vega”

The engineering on those things was so bad that one could reasonably suspect sabotage.

Love the creepy eyes. Robot driver looks a lot like a whitened up Obola. Perfect “driver” for a Government Motors Obolamobile.

I think the only sedan sales are to Hertz, Avis and the other rental car companies.

The last two times I rented a car was a Hyundia elantra.
It was a very nice car to drive.

Once, many long years ago, I drive one as a rental car. Most hideous car I ever drove. Then GM came out with its consumer diesels that were just as bad but far more expensive. I concluded that GM was on a social justice thing, having screwed the poor with the Vega, it decided to even the score by screwing the rich with the diesels; a brilliant success in each case.

The higher end Buick’s that they made before they went bankrupt were some of the finest cars on earth.

As my parent's generation (and frankly, my own) ages, I can see the need for a driverless car. Maintains the freedom of having your own wheels, even after you probably shouldn't be driving.

Right now? Heck no. In 30 years? Maybe. Would be nice to still have the ability to go out whenever I feel like it, without needing to call someone.

But the reality? Once adoption is more widespread, and more people start getting killed in car accidents, the technology is going to stall, I think.

I think that self-driving trucks on the highway would be a technical possibility, with "switchpoints" (maybe at rest areas?) to put drivers in for the last-mile driving.

I still see plenty of sedans - it’s the coupes that are missing. I don’t even know if it’s possible to get a two door car anymore.
