Senate panel delays Trump’s judicial picks amid Mueller standoff
The Hill ^ | 12/05/18 | Jordain Carney

The Senate Judiciary Committee is postponing votes on nearly two dozen judiciary nominees for the second time in as many weeks.

The decision to punt the business meeting again comes as Republicans are locked in a stalemate with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) over legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller.

Flake is voting against all judicial nominees until he gets a vote on the bill, which would let Mueller, or any special counsel, challenge the firing and be reinstated if a court determined it wasn’t for “good cause.”

With Republicans holding an 11-10 majority on the Judiciary Committee, Flake’s "no" vote effectively blocks the party from sending judicial nominees to the full Senate unless they can win over help from Democrats.

Flake is still refusing to approve judges so he can protect Mueller.

He doesn't care about the innocent people Mueller goes after.

One way or another, Flake has been bought and paid for.

The bill is unconstitutional and Flake is abusing his office.

No Statutory reason why these nominations need to go through the damn committee process.
Turtle can bring them straight to the floor, if is so inclined. The fact that he isn’t is more evidence that the pubbies still are NOT on the side of POTUS and the American People.

Flake is an immoral moralist who is too wrapped up in his own perceived virtue to be able to see how many people he is hurting.

Why doesn’t the turtle replace him on the committee?

Just weeks to go until next Congress with 53 senate seats. Flake is Mr. Irrelevant.

Flake is not republican. Flake has never been conservative. He does not care. Somebody should pull his republican card now that he is leaving office. And none of us should vote for him again. Nor should anyone appoint him to anything.

“Flake is voting against all judicial nominees until he gets a vote...”

The nominees are Not bargaining chips, Jeffy!

Who does he think he is? Judiciary Committee Republicans need to put him in his place, immediately.

If they are too weak to smackdown Flake, then they prove they are useless, and Trump will have to do it for them!

When the new Senate opens on January 3rd, Flake will be irrelevant. Right now, he should be ignored or told to pound sand. Once he's gone, the Senate Judiciary Committee should work a lot of overtime and not tolerate democrat obstruction or delay.

Democrats are scum, not to be trusted and deserve zero accommodation or consideration.

Post January 3rd, Senate Judiciary Committee debate should be greatly limited and the nuclear option should be used for EVERY candidate the President has nominated or nominates.

It’s more important that Flake buries his head up Mueller’s bottom because it’s quite obvious that there is something bad in Flake’s past. Flake is a lame duck, why would he care about protecting Mueller?

Why doesn’t the turtle replace him on the committee?

That's a good question. Even with only a few weeks to go, it would be justice that his record of service shows he was removed.

Because the turtle lives in the same hole with Flake. They’re pals and both hate Trump.

McConnell can replace him. Why hasn’t he. The Democrats would under similar circumstances.
