The incoming congress is going to impeach Trump no matter what he does.

There is a certain freedom in that. If they are going to do it no matter what, then he is free to pretty much do what he wants to, and dare them to impeach him.

The threat of impeachment only has power when there is a way to avoid it. Once you realize there is no avoiding it, it loses its power to threaten.

So, he can fire Mueller, tell him to take a hike, arrest him and lock him in Guantanamo. What are they going to do about it, impeach him? How many times? As long as the senate holds, they are powerless. They lost their power the moment they made impeachment a certainty.

“If they are going to do it no matter what, then he is free to pretty much do what he wants to, and dare them to impeach him.”

I do don’t think anyone cares if the House impeaches him. It is removal that is the issue, and it must be taken seriously, even though the Republicans have a majority in the Senate.

Here’s why: virtually every Democrat Senator and a handful of RINOs would vote to remove if they thought Trump did something “unreasonable”. Unfortunately, some of the things you listed (firing Mueller, releasing the FISA warrents, etc., would be considered unreasonable by these idiots.

These RINOs and the Democrats from Trump states would love to have an excuse to betray Trump, but if he doesn’t give them one, they won’t do it for fear of political backlash from we the people.

Bottom line is, Trump has to walk a fine line with anything to do with the Mueller investigation. He basically has to put up with it - like it or not.

A lot of people here thought it was Jeff Sessions’ recusal and passivity that allowed the Mueller investigation to be launched, and that allowed it to turn into a witch hunt, and keep going ad nauseum. Unfortunately, there’s a lot more to it - there are just too many squishy Republicans in the House and the Senate that think the witch hunt is legitimate, and that if Trump resists, protests, or takes any steps to end the Mueller investigation, it will suggest he has something to hide.

We know that’s BS, but there are enough Senators who disagree - that they could join with the Dems and remove him from office if he provokes them.
