Sure looks like a capitulation right now.
I am of the opinion that what is needed here is a change in optics to counter the MSM. A series of build the wall rallies perhaps?
Headline easily could have said, ‘Trump Caves’.
I don’t like drudge but in this case he went easy on Trump. Not a good development at all.
Not really. Though honestly, I don’t believe a wall will stop illegal immigration. It’ll help, but we already have fences and barbed wire and ditches and border patrols.
What we need is the political will to throw people out. We need to stop providing incentive for them to come illegally.
So now the military will build the wall??
The WH signaled today they have found other ways to pay for the wall.
Nearly all of that was frozen Iranian assets, with interest.
I’m sure taxpayers paid the interest.
Why blame Drudge for TRUMP FOLDING?! Trump folded, was defeated, gave up, lost, whatever. That is the problem. Why did he? Blame it on media, on Republicans, on what? Maybe on Trump. He couldn’t get $5 billion when $25 billion was on the table months ago. I think the blame starts squarely in the House, Ryan and everyone undercut him and us at every opportunity—Same in the Senate. How many years did we hear and see all these great stands until they had a chance to pass, then they came up short. Even Obamacare. Well, a judge is forcing their hand on that one and they have NOTHING ready, no replacement. The wall, Trump stood alone, now is defeated. Shame on Republicans. And, yes, shame on Trump for not taking a stand. He folded on this earlier when he should have stood, not harder to do so. I fear we’ve lost and we’ll see defeat after defeat over the next two years. Next time will be the same as last time. Many of us pointed that out previously. A sad, discomforting ‘I told you so.’

If they found other money to get it going, then who the hell cares?
So a week ago Trump didn’t know that he would go elsewhere for the money if he couldn’t get it through Congress? I am absolutely baffled why he would be threatening to shut down and then not follow through with it..

Pretty standard for Drudge over the years. They all play to
their base of support.
Trump didn’t fold, he just decided to use a different tactic, using funds from different sources. There is no shame on Trump, the Wall is going to be built.
My guess is that this was the plan all along—to bring it to the point of the government “closing down” or Trump funding it from the military. Certainly he both threatened a shutdown and said he’d fund it legally otherwise at the famous meeting with Chuck and Nancy.
I don’t really see how saying, “No matter, I’ll fund it out of the already funded military instead” is backing down. If anything it is moving the battle to the courts instead.
Most of the difficulty Trump is having now can be traced back to the actions of just one man — Jeff Sessions. If there ever was a vile, cowardly little man...
