Senator Elizabeth Warren named a new chief of staff on Thursday, changing up her office ahead of a possible presidential run and making it one of only a handful in the Senate to be led by a person of color.

Although Reid is not on Warren’s campaign team, her appointment is a sign the senator is taking the diversity of her staff seriously. Earlier this year, Warren faced criticism for releasing the results of a DNA test she took to address President Trump’s taunts that she had lied about her claims of having distant Native American heritage. Some progressives were put off by her linking genetic science with ethnicity and wondered if there was enough diversity in her inner circle of advisers to warn against such a move.
The issue of staff diversity will likely matter in a Democratic primary, in which voters of color are expected to be critical. Nonwhite voters made up more than a quarter of the 2018 midterm electorate, according to exit polls. According to the Senate Democrats Diversity Initiative, about 36 percent of Warren’s Senate staff was nonwhite as of June, placing her in the middle of the pack of 2020 contenders in the Senate on that metric. But she has been known for having people of color in high-level positions, including Tracey Lewis as deputy campaign manager in 2012 and Chris Huntley, who became her speechwriter earlier this year.

She didn’t lie about having distant Native American heritage, she lied about having recent enough heritage to give her “papaw” high cheekbones, and that her parents had to elope because her mother was “a Deleware and Cherokee” Indian. Warren is just a liar, but the author doesn’t want to admit that.

I am bitterly, BITTERLY disappointed that Warren overlooked/passed over deserving Arapahoe candidates! I had such high hopes.

What I’ve never heard any Liberal explain is why it is racist to exclude a person of color, but demand that only a person of color need apply. Racism is racism, regardless of the advertised purpose.

What I always found utterly insulting about it is that “people of color” aren’t “people”.
They are different than people. I mean if you say “Black” that’s a person. But “people of color” immediately creates a divide with the word “people”.
We have to stop saying “African American” because most black families in the US trace their heritage through the Creole islands, and not Africa. National identity to express skin color obviously doesn’t work for the African white. Are Libyans “African Americans”? Egyptians ? Arabs ?
No? Ok, guess what ? The term “African American” was designed not to identify a person, it was designed to separate a person into another group because of their skin color.
Caucasian works the same way. I have one Caucasian friend. He traces his lineage back to the Caucus mountains.
The whole thing makes me sick. When the left says that we on the right are racist and somehow the echo chamber kicks in and before you know it - BAM - up is down.
Apparently none of the Irish, Polish, Italian and German applicants had any colors.
If she names a NA, she’ll be accused of playing favorites. Tee hee, all that Indian princess stuff just eliminated every NA from ever being on her payroll.
