No one says liberalism isn't popular when they don't get a majority vote or aren't doing will in the polls. Trump won in spite of not getting a majority, his support is constant, and is accomplishing his policy goals. That is what matters, getting results.

BS, support for the wall is 70% or more... but if you ask the question of whether you support Trump you get a 51/49 split.... But if you ask should the US build a wall to protect its southern border you get over 70% support.

Issue polls--whether favorable or unfavorable--are not really indicative of anything. How an issue is presented at any given moment has a disproportionate influence on the result. Any articulate Conservative, who fully grasps the context, can destroy any open borders advocate in a debate, among those listening to the debate. Here is the way I would have handled W in 2006, had I been given the opportunity, from my article at the time:
