Conservative Woman Denied Housing in D.C...Due to Political Views

Who said that conservatives aren't discriminated against for their political beliefs?

Pardes Seleh, a conservative who has worked at Fox News and is now a graduate student, shared an email today she received explaining why she was denied approval to rent an apartment in Washington, D.C.

In an email, the owner/tenet writes to Seleh stating, "after pursuing your various journalistic and social media posts, it's pretty clear your political views are diametrically opposed to ours (and we hate Fox)."

Seleh posted that email to Twitter this morning:

An hour later Seleh, in a video posted to Twitter, explained that her political views aren't far right-wing or that "crazy." Seleh then expressed the fact that she didn't want to be seen as a victim, but rather show what occurred when searching for housing in D.C...as a conservative.

She went on to explain that people who are claiming to be "pro-love" don't show tolerance to varying political opinions.

Seleh told Townhall that she was "looking to downsize to an apartment with roommates in order to save money on rent, but it seems a lot of the people who live in my area wouldn’t want a roommate with my work background or political views."

"It’s not the end of the world and I‘m not a victim, have great friends in the area, but this stuff could get annoying sometimes," Seleh added.

Reactions from Twitter were swift, with many expressing outrage. The best response to the tweet was a picture of the "Fair Housing Laws" in D.C. while also pushing back against liberal "tolerance."

Seleh responded to "haters" who trolled her stating that she is "treated like a nazi for no reason."

I think that should be perusing.

Lawsuit for what?

first it was a roommate situation and no one can be forced to live with someone diametrically opposed to their philosophy.

Second if it had been an apartment issue, well political beliefs are not a protected class, yet.

After reviewing her follow on posts, she is a conservative who won’t fight back, won’t sue, and doesn’t want the lefties who denied her housing targeted. This is why we lose. All is war now and the Left needs to be confronted just as forcefully and destructively as they target us.

She sounds like a Bush-League Republican.

This was a roommate situation.

People can and do pick their roommates on all types of criteria, with much more legal leeway than they’d have with even an apartment rental in their house—or certainly in a larger apartment building.

I’m sorry, but this is a non-story.

She doesn’t have any grounds to sue. This is a roommate situation.

Creed has only been legally interpreted as religion—and doesn’t pertain in a roommate situation anyway.

That the political views that elected our current President are not tolerated in our own Capitol makes it clear that unless we fight back we will lose our country.

So true; the right has to learn how to fight a “total war”. Instead we endure a slow string of defeats while the left slowly moves the goalposts, “fundamentally transforming” the country not over generations or decades, but by the year. The Kenyan Pirate opposed open borders and “gay marriage”, yet ten years after his election those positions are considered hate speech. Not “unpopular” or “right-wing” - HATE SPEECH.

"She doesn’t have any grounds to sue. This is a roommate situation."

Not sure about that. DC housing law prohibits discrimination based upon political affiliation or source of income (Fox).

"I think that should be perusing."

__________

Yes indeed .... even "studying or examining".

It is amazing how many of those errors are in articles these days.

I even ran across three misspellings in an article by the brilliant Victor Davis Hanson a few days ago. (He better watch over his staff.)

:-)

Actually, political beliefs are protected in DC. By law, I believe.
