“Unfortunately, China can now beat the crap out of our military. Theyre weapons are more sophisticated, they have more troops, and they havent exhausted their resources.”
Not a chance.
The death of the aircraft carrier is one of those questions, like the death of the tank and the last manned fighter aircraft, that boils down to a question of when, not if.
What the United States fears the most is taking casualties, Admiral Lou declared.
He said the loss of one super carrier would cost the US the lives of 5000 service men and women. Sinking two would double that toll.
Well see how frightened America is.

Tell that to bin Laden and the Taliban
What Americas enemies should fear most is inflicting casualties on Americans and America.
President Trump is reminding the world of this which is the reason he is taking so much heat from our enemies, both foreign and domestic
“China is precisely following the path of Japan during the 1930s.”
And how did that turn out for Japan?
I see fake admiral getting a visit from someone soon
Chinese dont like stuff out in the open like this big mouth
Says who?
A couple of thoughts:
1. If A/Cs are so easy to take out, why is China acquiring more of them?
2. Have they ever actually sunk one (even a simulated on) in a realistic live-fire exercise? Computer sims don’t count. Last time I checked, the last A/C carrier was sunk in WWII.
It’s easy to make outrageous claims (just ask the Iraqis). Backing them up with proof is another matter.
It is possible to heavily damage a CVN but to actually sink one would probably take 20 torpedo hits and/or a nuclear weapon.
Unfortunately The Chinese do have the capability to sink an American carrier. Those carriers are screened by other ships and themselves are armed with excellent defensive weapons. However given the sophistication of digital surveillance and state of the art stealthy shore to ship or ship to ship stealthy missiles ( which in China’s missiles feature the essentials of an American designed guidance system given to the Chinese by Bill Clinton) all surface capital ships are extremely vulnerable.
Maybe we should preemptive sink our CVN fleet and just seed the ocean to the Chinese. /sarc

The retired America was expended in a live fire exercise in 2005.
China is very vulnerable to a counter-strike. The admiral's enormous hat must be too tight.
“I think I recall from a few years back that the size of the Chinese Army was basically the population of the United States. Is that true?”
The standing regular Chinese army (not counting reserves, border patrol, etc.) has about two million soldiers.
There are entirely too many unsubstantiated statements about Chinese military prowess on this thread.
Yep
Pull USA business out of China and its fields of famine again
Hordes of quilted jacket laden armies commanded by regional warlords duking it out and casualties in the 100s of millions
We dont like casualties which defines us as determining victory by less of our guys dying while we destroy them
Isnt that in Art of War somewhere.....lose as few as possible
That said, the Chi-coms gotta lil more maturing to do before sinking a carrier. That would unleash a hell storm on China. Their lil man made islands would be gone. Any ship not out to sea would be sank. It would be ugly...for everyone involved, but particularly China.
Its really nice that we have thousands of nuclear missiles available at a moments notice.
“Yup the lesson since Beirut 83’...”
My take on Beirut 83 was that Ollie North had sold arms in trade for cash to go to the contra which became known later as the Iran-Contra Affair, but what essentially happened was he sold arms and ordnance to Iran... And Iran backed the perpetrators (i.e Islamic Jihad Organization) that drove their car bombs into the Beirut barracks The attack killed 307 people: 241 U.S. and 58 French peacekeepers, 6 civilian, and the 2 attackers.
So my take away from Beirut ‘83 is that Ollie North still has a lot to answer for.
CVN.....isnt that the number on the back of my credit card?
Chinese Rear Admiral Lou Yuan, a fake Admiral who is the deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Science might be a fake deputy head who does not know military history.
The fake Admiral Lou Yuan needs to review the quote from Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto and remember 70 to 85 million Japanese died because of WW2.
Fake Admiral Lou Yuan needs to think twice before awakening the Sleeping Giant.
