In the next couple of weeks? Not likely

why not? There is a lot of unpaid controllers looking for a paycheck.

Robert L. Wilkie, the secretary of veterans affairs, said in a statement that his department would be unaffected because it was fully funded through the 2019 fiscal year.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be staffed at about 78 percent, meaning more than 15,000 of the agency’s employees will keep working. The Secret Service, also part of Homeland Security, will retain more than 5,700 employees during the shutdown.

Several Border Security & ICWE senior officers spoke at President Trump’s Press conference yesterday and said. They have skin in the game because they are not getting paid but they entreated the President to stand firm because they need a wall to do their jobs.

If the parks were the responsibility of the states where the parks are located, a federal government shutdown would have no impact.

“They won’t be able to go months and months without pay.”

During the Obama Depression, millions of Americans went YEARS without pay. Let government employees experience that. They might gain an appreciation for having a job and do it better.

“Well, then I guess Pelosi needs to come up with $5 billion real fast...”

She will soon, if not already, have the Government Union “leaders” beating a path to her door pleading with her to give in. From my perspective “pi$$ on them!” They and their minions are all RATs who wouldn't vote for Trump if their lives depended on it. Trump just needs to hang in, and these unions will make it very clear to the RATs that they must accede to the demand for the wall money and “put them back to work.

Do you mean the so called Democrats would sacrifice their working people for nonvetted, illegal immigrants? I am for legal, responsible immigration.

There’s nothing more critical to our survival as a nation than securing our border.

None of the rest matters if we don’t secure the border.

Wait until the food stamps run out at the end of January. This will be Pelosi and Schumers tipping point. They will have to fund the wall so their voters will get their bennies. Who is the food stamp going to blame? The dumocrats who they rely on for the handouts or POTUS. They will call the dumocrats and demand they fund the wall.

They’ve got to come up with something that will save face for both Trump and Pelosi. They will. It will be something that both can brag about.

Dems are unprepared for anything that doesn’t respond to their emotional, fact-free, hysteria.

The DIMtards despise the American people who aren’t their mindless slaves. If this is what it takes to crush them into the oblivion that these malignancies deserve, it is well worth the sacrifice. Always remember the sacrifices over history of those who love this country. Stay positive...stay strong. Crush them.

How did a supremely competent organization like the Coast Guard [think about what it takes to survive operating buoy tenders in Alaska in winter] ever get mixed up in this crowd?

It is the equivalent of LIBs in cali and other LIB-infested areas moving out to states where they bring their useless ideas and voting patterns. If they do go for private sector jobs, they had better shut up and work.

Essential employees still work, but they don’t get paid until a bill passes. Not a problem if the gov is shut down a week. Big problem if it goes on for 3 months! I suspect most active-duty military would be hard pressed if required to work without pay for months.

The DoD is funded through September.

Dems won’t budge, and getting Trump is far more important to them than any problems inflicted on the government workers.

True, but it works both ways.

And Trump has a lot less to lose. Us old guys don’t have a lot to lose and, in our waning years the only thing we really have is our integrity. A lot of house members are in the middle of - or just beginning - their careers. They have a lot of career left after the dust settles on this thing.

i.e Trump can hold his breath a lot longer.

"Wherever possible, go outside the experience of your opponents."

-Saul Alnsky

Trump has done this successfully to the Dems, who don't really have any moves that aren't in their playbook written in 1968. They all rely on Republicans folding under withering media pressure. When they don't they get totally flummoxed. Witness the flabbergasted shock-and-awe over Kavanaugh. Trump can win this if he holds firm.
