Like most... Does this Bowling Alley serve alcohol? Grew up in Bowling Alleys and after the kiddos go home you might as well just take the title “bowling alley” off the sign because they become nothing more than a full fledged adult BAR with all the same problems like this that go along with a BAR.

According to witnesses, the shooting stemmed from a brawl at the bowling alley.

Wes Hamad, a 29-year-old Torrance resident, was with his 13-year-old niece and cousin when he saw a “huge fight” break out. Hamad said the altercation, which lasted about five minutes, blocked the entrance of bowling alley and devolved into “complete chaos.”

Just I suspected..probably some gang fight

>>Torrance is down the road from gang ridden Compton. Draw your own conclusions..<<

Bull crap!!!!! Torrance is quite a distance from Compton and is quite a safe city. You and that other ("gang-related") crackpot on this thread have not a clue! not a clue!!! I have lived here for fifty years and can tell you it is one of the safest areas in Southern California. We border Palos Verdes and Redondo Beach as well. Our police department is one of the very best according to Mark Furman.

Who the hell are you for putting down Torrance? Where do you live in California? Cars afford transportation for miles these days. You can actually travel over forty miles in just an hour now-a-days!!! a mere sixty minutes. Gang members living in Wilmington can even get in a car and visit Westwood or Brentwood. Think of that!!
I suppose that makes those areas gang zones.

Im not putting down Torrance. I live in LA, trust me, there are good parts and bad parts to EVERY city. I live here on the Westside, some parts I wouldn’t want to go through at night..the homeless population here on the Westside is HORRIBLE..ever go to the Beverly Center, its VERY BAD even during the day. Im just saying there are good parts and bad parts to every city, Torrance included..Westside included

You are taking this far to personally, ALL of CA. has become a pit I live in Ventura County now, I have Next Door AND Ring videos coming across my iPad EVERY damn day of frigging car thefts, home thefts, package thefts AND this is supposed to be one of the BEST areas in CA. until we close the damn border AND end sanctuary status this ENTIRE state will become a cesspool!!! Look at San Francisco for God’s sake WAS one of the most beautiful cities in CA. it is NOW full of crime, homeless, AND it doesn’t matter anymore how much you pay to live there OR how upscale the area is and that is a FACT!!!!

I understand. The bowling alley is located at Hawthorne Blvd. and Sepulveda Blvd. That is actually a pretty safe area, but it is not a well-lighted parking lot. Sorry that I got pissed, but Torrance, in a sense, has been good to me.

Im sorry I would never bash an entire city. My cousin works in El Segundo, he used to work in Torrance..he told me certain parts at night are not safe to be around..but that can be said for ANY city especially here in LA..trust me PLENTY of parts here on the Westside are total sh*tholes thanks to liberal policies..can’t walk down the street without being yelled at by a homeless person..go to The Grove, Beverly Center, Culver City, cities you would think “Oh too nice to have issues like that” and you see it

The West side is a wee bit stressful for me, even during daytime travel.

But to your larger point about the general decline of basic civility in society, I couldn't agree more. We see it universally. That's probably because we abandoned guidance we used to receive from parents and from Scripture which used to be taught in churches.

The Westside has gotten well..kind of sh*tty..just a few days ago someone was stabbed near the Sprouts on Bagley/Exposition..where they have the train, that area has always been good, but they have a homeless encampment in the area so there ya go

I grew up in Torrance and I have family that still lives there. Your breakdown on ethnicity is correct, about 37% Asian, 37% White, 17% Hispanic, 3% Black, about 1.5% Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and the rest other. It is solidly middle class and is HQ for many corporations, so it's generally wealthier than the surrounding cities.

Gable House Bowl is just blocks from Del Amo Fashion Center, the 3rd largest mall in the US. People come from all over the region to hang out there, and with it comes riff raff.

And you're correct, there is no gang territory in Torrance. But surrounding and nearby cities like Hawthorne, Compton, Inglewood, etc, are infested with gangs and they often come to hang out at the mall and surrounding businesses. When our car was stolen at the mall by 2 Hispanic thieves (saw them drive right past me in the car), the police officer told us they come in by bus from LA and steal cars at the mall. So, the mall and surrounding areas are high crime spots in an otherwise low crime city (half national average). My parents live 2 blocks from the mall and have had cars stolen from in front of their house 5 times, even with theft prevention devices. They're also 2 blocks from the police station, go figure.

As for Gable House, when I was going there late nights on weekends for Rock'n'Bowl, it was nothing like that. Never that crowded, mostly well-behaved teens and college kids, and I never saw anyone drunk. Times have changed.

I agree. I love Torrance, it’s been great to me. It’s a low-crime, safe city in general and I always felt safe there. My parents have lived there for 47 years. There are just some trouble spots and those are generally around the mall and most of that trouble is generated by people who don’t even live in Torrance. It really hurt my heart to read about this last night since Gable House was like a second home to me in high school and college. My brother and I were in bowling leagues and tournaments there, went there for parties. It’s a shame.

I drove by Del Amo mall many times...I once ate at Hometown Buffet near the mall...

I don’t live in Torrance...However, I am familiar with the city...

I have never visited Gable House Bowl before...However, I am familiar with the area near Hawthorne Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd. A job placement agency once gave me an assignment in the area...

I agree that Torrance is a good place...Median home sale price, in Torrance, was $752,900 for last year.(zillow.com)

Torrance by represented by Congressman Ted Lieu and Congresswoman Maxine Waters...Lieu represents 90503 and 90505 zip codes...Waters represents area north of PCH and east of Hawthorne Blvd...By the way, I do not like both Dems...

I think I know the area you are talking about...It is near the Westside Pavilion...I drove through the area many times...

Westside of Los Angeles is very liberal area...

I don’t think I have ever seen a homeless encampment in Culver City...Maybe Culver City PD is less tolerant of homeless people than LAPD...
